New Caledonia and the resistance against French settler colonists.

tim

EXPLODED TIM! (Help me!!!)
The Kanaks who are the indigenous people of the French Colony are resisting the attempts by the French occupying regime to grant more voting rights to French. Five people including two gendarmes have been killed and Macron has made an emergency visit. The civilian dead were Kanaks seem. There was a lot of violence in the 1980s after which the current agreement to limit the political rights of recent settlers was introduced.

Kanaks make up less than half of the population and obviously more settlement will diminish this further.

New Caledonia was also the place to where many of those involved in the Paris Commune were deported.

An article on Louise Michel, leading Communard, and her support of indigenous resistance back in 1878, most of the other deportees supported colonial oppression
