Zombie Strippers

Totally wrong.

Something liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike the Resident Evil films is good in a totally different way to the Three Colours Series. You don't go into watch Independence Day, as another example, expecting it to make any kind of comment on the human condition or owt like that, you go into see it for some excellent explosions and brilliantly cliched action hero lines and sequences. I do, anyway.

Why are you overcomplicating things?

If you watch a film for good explosions & you get good explosions then it's a good film. Not so bad it's good.

If you watch a shit film & for some reason you think it's terrible and that in some way is a good thing, a plus point for the film, then you are incorrect (and probably trying too hard to be wacky and ker-ay-zee).

I have also just remembered that I watched Blade the other day for the first time. Bloke fights vampires witha fucking big sword and a massive budget. Not much that can go wrong, you say? Yeesh.

What I was struggling to try and say was that I can totally see why other people would say it was shit but, for me, it's really enjoyable. That is much simpler. It's got nothing to do with wacky cockness.

So for you it's a good film because you like it & you think it's good. No problem with that.

It's not shit...the acting isn't up to much but the film is damn entertaining in a completely throw away way. Great way to be entertained for a few hours.

It appears to be the phrase 'so bad it's good' that gets me. Cannot be true. If you like a film for a reason then say what the reason is. Thanks. :)

Take the zombies out & it might be approaching good. But then I can't see the point in strippers either tbh.

See post #43.

And you can get 'badass' <spit> anytime you want.

Look. Things which are bad, are bad. Things which are good, are good. Things which have both good and bad bits and end up good, or bad, have both good and bad etc etc. There is no "so bad it's good" unless you are an ironic student throwback from the 90s.

This sounds like toss tbh.

A Film can be totally empty and devoid of any rhetoric but still be utterly entertaining. Junk food for the brain. Instant coffee from a plastic cup. It's shit but you don't care because it's coffee.

That has the assumption that rhetoric makes films good and lack of it doesn't. There aren't any films which have nothing good about them and that makes them good - that would be a contradiction. Red Sonja? So bad it's... bad, bad swordfights, no tits, shit styling etc. Independence Day? Shit politics, shit plot, but Jeff Goldblum, Will Smith, one-liners, shit blowing up. And so on.

If it's good, there are good things about it. Being bad can never make something good.

Lethal Weapon is utterly shit, saturated in cliches. Alcoholic off the edge white cop who lives alone and has chased all the women away in his life, street wise sensible, family guy black cop. The pair of them go around shooting bad guys from behind christmas trees, Danny Glover keeps telling people his partner is "on the edge" when he goes a bit cRaZy MeNtAl and when life gets too much for Glover there's always the sax solo of him standing in the night rain. Utterly shit film but fantastic. A product of it's time.
