Zionly Vegan Rastaraunt (sic)

I feel most left-out and a bit cheated now. On the umpteen occasions I've walked past the aforementioned rasta has never been there.

;)
Poor you :( You probably couldn't find a more stereotypical ageing rasta if you spent 2 months hanging around kingston wearing a "elderly rastas wanted for work, will pay in cash/ganja" sandwich board. He completes the image of the place perfectly :)

We were going to go on wednesday, but ended up going to the early showing of the movie so didn't have time. Has anyone actually been yet?

I'm not taking the piss man, I'm all for vegan food even though I'm not vegan anymore, most of what I eat just happens to be vegan, also I was thinking of starting my own I-tal restaurant/pub business (with earth-shaking rootical vibrations and cantankerous black heart riddims a play) 'cos I love food and I wanna be my own boss, and TBH any place called "rastaurant" MUST be visited by I&I... it is CRUCIAL!!!! :D
no worries man, thought it a bit weird u were asking how to get to brixton! but u meant exact location, so i tried to help anyways. my whole family are vegan and i am a quasi-one so bless up :)

Yep, it's Ital food. Which, to most of us effectively means that it'll probably be lacking in salt and ostensible flavour at first bite. More pepper sauce should sort it out.

I don't think it'll have Mannish Water, at least not the proper kind. I can't see your average vegan being happy with a stock-type soup typically made with goat's head, offal and other entrails.

So. has anybody actually eaten there yet? I reckon I shall be back visiting Brixton again within a few months and the wee lassie will be after a vegan place...

No, but I called in to have a proper look tonight and was greeted with a "welcome inside, completely vegan" from a very cool looking guy with some serious head gear! :D

They had a series of meals - although they weren't exactly explained

didn't look like anything was very much over a fiver though.

Zionly Manna has been open in the daytime as a stall in Brixton Village covered market for a couple of years at least.

Speaking as a pretty dyed in the wool carnivore I can testify the bloke who runs it serves the best take away food in Brixton bar none. Perfect hangover cure and actually tastes like its doing you good as you eat it.

He makes his own hot sauce as well which should be approached with extreme caution but is top notch.

Good luck to him and his new venture, its proper quality food well worth checking whether you're vegetarian or rastafarian or indeed (in my case) neither.

I like the sound of this place... I'm planning on trying it out early next week... join me if you dare... :D
