I like the sound she maked. some bloke making them not going to be the same :D

well with any luck Dub Dada or whoever won't be making irritating ullulating noises and wobbling on about 'good earth love conscious vibrations' over every song. :)

In the other thread**, an improvement was suggested on those very grounds ... mixed feelings personally. So as you say, proof of the pudding on the 16th ...

ETA : **And in this one, I now see!!

Crustychick, you coming? Only a tenner ....

PieEye -- I remember (now) a conversation we had along those lines after the ZT gig (which you missed, I remember!) at Glasto 2003. We agreed to differ then ... not much has changed by the look of it ... :p

just posted this thread because I'll jump around like a teenager be left smiling for a few days

I love my dub....Remember the Vox club bass nights or 'Night of the living dub' at the Robey....Does anything go on like that anymore?

Zion Train are the most pretentious fuckwits with ideas of an importance that they dont have that i've ever had the mispleasure of being in ear shot of.

We won't see you down Brick Lane on the 16th then ... :p :D :p ;)

(Polarised views overall in this thread, or WHAT!!??)

To answer your mentions in order., yes, I do remember the Robey in the early 90s   , and ... probably not ... although the upstairs dub and roots room at Unsound is pretty good these days ... ;)

and how do you know they're pretentious, IHB?

you'll have much more fun seeing Zion Train play our venue 2 days, later, Vikrams Occasions Palace in Slough - Sat Mar 18th

http://www.fennerfest.co.uk/

we had The Beat and No1 Station play 2 weeks ago, have some of this:

why would you want to go to some scummy dive on a Thursday night, when you can go to a Palace on a Saturday?

and yes, you can get an excellent curry, as yes, Vikrams is a punjabi banquetting hall. 21st Century fun from what was the guilfin.org crew

check our adventures out - http://www.fennerfest.co.uk/gallery.html

I see what you mean about Saturday being better than Thursday, but you're on a hiding to nothing if you're trying to persuade inner Londoners to head for Slough!! ... anyway I've booked my ticket for the 16th now ...

Have a goodun down there though :)

they love it. got them coming from all over for this one - Ramsgate, Bristol and Cricklade are all looming large in the online ticket sales ...

they're playing Hitchin on the Friday night - another place with not much of a reputation, but in truth one of the best places for live music I can think of - they have the best urban festival i've ever been too - http://www.rotw.org.uk/

Cheers for that, will add that Hitchin Festival to my list ...

One of the best (tiny) bands I ever saw was a three piece singing in harmony (also with guitar and mandolin) in the club tent at the Cambridge Folk Festival, they were from Hitchin as well, they also said Hitchin was  for live music, jammimg, acoustic, folk, etc.

Now a review of that quality tempts me to get a ticket ;)

they had a Gurdwara (sikh temple) crawl on the night before the festival last year - very unpretentious place, lots of fun, and on a good night, they have 5000 people going mental to zion train in a car park ... they block off the whole town centre and have stages up everywhere, playing every type of music. Quite mad, the whole town turns out and has a raucous time, a proper town carnival

Bump!

so

William's going to be in the Pride of Spitalfields sometime beforehand - 7 maybe?

Crustychick's on internal lager patrol

i've got a spanish mob turning up, which will be ... interesting...

see y'all there!

Doubt I'll make the Pride of Spitalfields by 7 now, as Stig and I are having a curry (not in Brick Lane itself, but not far off) beforehand. She's not doing the gig, but saw my doing so as a welcome curry opportunity ...

Sometime between 8 and 8:30 in the Pride of S is more realistic ... I doubt the gig will start before 9 at earliest, and the venue is near the pub.

okay, that provides time to mosey over from Islington... see you there!

The Robey - the only pub i've ever frequented where they ran out of beer more times than they didn't. I remember watching African Headcharge do a drum session in there once that was amazing, Bonjo just grinning and working the crowd.

Excellent gig -- memories impaired by the several pints beforehand though ... :o :o

And some naughty scamp handed me a pipe of great hash just after we arrived  ;) :D

So ... all a bit floaty ....
