zine submissions (please)?

i'm a putting together the second issue of a small, ramshackle publication, and am looking for contributions...

issue 1 was fat and shiny, and had things like.... very short stories - artwork - articles [on tribal brains in a global village, alternative feminism, flying/environmentalism, 'ethical' shopping], a few well placed chunks of satire, a couple of band interviews, tour reviews, original poetry, and random(er) bits and bobs... i guess the overriding theme could only be described as 'chaos'. submissions came in from across the uk, and it was sold at cost (would've been free if the photocopying had been)....

issue 2's going to have a 'DIY' theme and be sent off to ethical printers, around the end of july.

no massive rush, i'm just setting the ball rolling i guess (i'm aiming to have an all-out tippex, paper, glue and coffee week-long compiling stint mid-july)

unfortunately it's more about love than money - free copy of the thing to anyone who's written for it, and maybe some green and black's if there's spare lying around...

What do you mean by a DIY theme?

Send me a link if you have a site for your zine, and I'll add it to our rebuilt site (it's not for zines, but has a few random links) - as long as it's good, of course, but I presume it will be

When you say a "DIY theme", I'm presuming you're not just talking about weekend Black and Deckerists, and are referring to "culture"?

hey, i'd love to contribute. i already write flash fiction for another zine, so could do some of that - or, i make some of my own clothes, knit things out of plastic bags etc is that the sort of thing you'd be interested in?

Me and some mates were trying to sort out an anarchist zine ages back, with a specific mantra that there would be no target audience, no guidelines or specific tone and no single editor. The project currently resides on the back burner whilst I await more submissions (and the services of someone who knows who to use publishing software or, at a pinch, pritt stick and a craft knife), but I did write a couple of interesting wee tirades I could submit for your perusal; pending their recovery from the smouldering remains of my hard drive...
