The problem with Zane Lowe isn't that he's too earnest. I don't mind someone talking about music seriously and passionately if they really mean it (maaan). The problem is that he delivers the same earnest spiel about any old shite, and frankly I don't believe a word that's coming out of his mouth. I haven't listened to his radio show so he may well be different on there, but on the telly it seems like he's prepared to gush about whatever band's wheeled in front of him, and that's just really really grating and horribly patronising.

He was actually a decent sort the one time i met him at a gig. He was indeed genuinely passionate about the music (it wasn't some trendy indie shit either, but quality old fashioned jazz). I have other friends in NZ who say he's a nice bloke. He seems to come across as too full-on and arse-lickey on the radio though. Everyone he interviews seems to be the greatest musician of their generation.
