I like that itinerary very much, skyscraper101. No worries about them getting tired walking, they do lots of hiking in the old US of A. I would like to show them Soho etc, and to get there in the evening would be good. I may well follow that, but perhaps get a boat from the Tower to Embankment and then up to Covent Garden/Picadilly.

There are some lovely cake shops on Old Compton Street. Can't for the life of me remember the names though.

Don't forget to tell them to walk really slowly, and stand on the wrong side of the escalators on the tube. Oh, and make sure that they always stop dead in the middle of the street, or ideally in passageways on the underground. Being pushed past while people say "Fuck's sake," under their breath, is an integral part of the visitors' experience.

Last time I went there, I watched Invasion of the Body Snatchers, in a huge theater, with about three other people, one afternoon.

Best thing to do with tourists, is put them on one of those bus tours. Locals usually don't think of it. I went on one in London, and saw and learned tons about the city.

the best times i've ever had as a tourist have been me going to a pub near the station that looks nice sitting at the bar chatting to random strangers. i suppose that's difficult in london but it works in paris and barcelona
