Also reminded of Ghostbusters, Trading Places and Groundhog Day.

All good movies.

Trading Places in particular, is one of those movies that, when considering the sum of it's parts, really should be utter shit. How it manages to be really quite good is beyond me......

Corrected:

Eddie Murphy - 94% shit
Dan Ackroyd - 40% shit
Jamie Lee Curtis - 63% shit
Concept - Not something that on paper would have me rushing to see it.

:p

Maybe you want to put a spoiler warning on there as you just gave away the end. Great film though.

It's seventeen years old, and is on the Beeb every year at 11:25 once a year without fail.

..and it's been on the telly the other day so there is a good chance that there are people who've recorded it and haven't watched it yet. There is a way to talk about films without ruining it for those who haven't seen them.

Vader is Luke's father you know.

Some Like It Hot
Indiana Jones
Peggy Sue Got Married
High Heels
She-Devil
Ed Wood
Mars Attacks!
Kill Bill 1 & 2

I just watched Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Considering the mauling it got at release I thought it was quite cheery harmless fun and definitely one to add to the 'feelgood' list.

Stand by me is the shit, doesn't exactly make me feel good though - more nostalgic...

Another vote for Howl's moving castle and spirited away...

Zatoichi - great ending... :D

Back to the Future
Amelie
The Wedding Singer :o
The BFG
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Breakfast Club
Kiki's Deliver Service
8 Femmes

And Zoolander.
Damn, got to it before me :)
What about Wizard of Oz? Kinda like Sound of Music and Singing in the rain - I am sucked in completely when they on on telly... :)
Could watch Groundhog day on a loop - which is strange as thats what youre watching... :D
Any Almodovar film too would do

Definitely The Princess Bride.
Other great suggestions are:
Labyrinth
Amelie
Spirited Away (surprised I don't see more of that one)
Ferris Bueller
Army of Darkness (Shop Smart! Shop S-Mart!)

There were a couple of very good movies mentioned that just aren't "feelgood" to me:
Ed Wood
The Iron Giant
Brilliant, both of them. Not terribly cheerful though.

I'll add:
North By Northwest (purely because it's So Damned Good)
Pulp Fiction (always makes me laugh out loud)
Shaun of the Dead (haven't got sick of it yet)

Top Bottom
