Your warmest coat?

i wear two jackets, current choice, is a fleece and a denim jacket, the fleece under the denim, does the job

with the addition of thermal underwear...i am well sorted..

i have an ankle length (but i'm short so it trails) Bench coat which is warm until it rains, then it soaks up five tons of floor rain and slaps it hard against my legs as i walk, the fake fur turning to evil wet feathers chastising me and a huge warmer than warm wooly hoody puffy fluffy coat which makes me look soooo fat which is too too warm so i take it off (in -5 t' other day) and then am cold so put it back on and am too hot. i have many other coats but don't like them... :( maybe i will stay in till June

I used to have a alpha industries jacket that I got from an army surplus store, and some fucking kaaaannnnt nicked it from the one eyed dog

One thing that does make me enjoy winter is my purple afghan coat it is so warm that on Saturday night I'll be able to wear me skimpy dress out dancing but be as warm as toast on the way home- its got purple fake fur lining and a purple furry ruff that keeps me chin and ears warm and purple furry cuffs... it cost £109 about 2 years ago... the best thing was it was too small for me then but now it fits lovely :)

well it's just generally known

a shahtoosh shawl costs tens of thousands of dollars, is light enough to pass through a ring and is incredibly warm, the warmest natural fibre on the planet

the trade is also bringing the chiru, the rare antelope that produces the wool (it's the fine, dense, underfur on its belly) to the brink of extinction

I wouldn't recommend buying it

I have a couple of extreme cold weather army parkas, neither of which usually get an airing unless I'm going to Scandinavia or Russia in winter, but one of which lives in my car in case of me getting snowed in or breaking down. I also have a red Gloverall wool duffel coat which is so dense as to be windproof.

I'll check out the boyfriend's breed*, could make a fortune from shaving his belly & selling the underfur. ;)

My warmest coat is a sheepskin flying jacket bought for £5 from a very under-priced charity shop that used to be on Lavender Hill.

I've got a Paul Smith puffer jacket - full of duck feathers - it's well warm - though at the moment I'm wearing a Carhaart parker style thing.

Some smart black herringbone one with double row of buttons down the front which I wear nearly every day in winter as it has a lovely quilted inner lining and goes half way down my thighs so it keeps me nice and warm. It's an Oliver Spencer if that means anything.

Got it for £120 reduced from £440.

Only ever bought myself one new winter coat! It's a long very theatrical black velvet coat. I love it! Littlewoods catalogue about 80 quid two years ago.

It's not very warm or practical and only has one button - but it's better than battling on with jackets all winter..
