Your very first rave

It was the first time I'd ever heard Orbital's 'Chime' too (-it hadn't been a hit yet). It sounded so amazing that I was convinced I'd imagined it, and therefore it was essential that I remember the melodies so that I could go and make a record the next day. -As you do!... :o ;) :D

Story of my life! And you never can, of course...

The big one I remember is Castle Morton but sure there wa sloads of stuff before that its just I don't have the memory....

Used to go up to eclipse as well but have no idea of date...

2002 not 2003

2002 - behind the Carlsberg Factory, next to the canal. First time on E, I danced and smoked an unreal amount of fags while supping my way through much Red Stripe, chattering away at a million miles an hour and gurning my tits off :D

Ended up building a massive bonfire and coming home black in the face and feeling like my brain had fallen out my nose. Was cracking though. Started my fire interest when battered, so pretty :o

My first rave was after Reclaim the Streets, the Never Mind the Ballots one in 1997. I was 14 I think.. we heard there was a party after the street partry/riot :D so followed along with everyone else. I dont remember much, there was loadsa of good exploring to done around the office block and I amused myself greatly with old school telephones. I dont think I did much dancing as I was a bit shy.. but I had a wicked time... And have been going squat rave intermittently ever since

I guess mine was at Treworgy in 89 when a bloke drove a sodding great merc van into the festival, set up a masive sound system & started banging out techno all night. Hadn't understood what all the fuss was with dance music until then but I was off my nuts on microdots having seen Hawkwind earlier that evening & remember thinking "OK now I get it!" :)
I was there, loving it :D
also the tribal gathering was mental in 93.

my first really memorable rave was at a womad in 89 i think,
we saw on u sound and they were absolutely mental.
the energy in there was like nothing id ever seen and i was hooked then, out every weekend for the next ten years.

btw, we used to take my sisters kids to parties for years when they were little and it was fine on the whole.
when they got a bit bigger and more conscious, it got a bit wierd but now theyre 16 and 20 and out partying most weekends so it cant have put them off.
i also took my son to loads of french teknivals when he was 1-4.
he loved dancing in the lights and playing with all the trippy people in the morning. people have a lot of respect for little kids at parties i found.
i wouldnt take him now though. i dont want him mixing with loads of k heads.

September 1991, Techno Terrorists, Blandford Forum, Dorset... Aged 17. A fairly gentle initiation. Followed up by innumerable lost weekends at Spiral Tribe, DiY, Circus Warp, Eze Love, Sketchy Crew, etc., etc... And of course not forgetting Glastonbury (1992 was the best I ever went to), Universe, etc. Ahh, them wuz the days (as they say in the trade)... Half a g of Billy's finest, then a Phase 4, or a pink Callie, White Dove, Dennis the Menace, Rhubarb and Custard... Or perhaps a purple OM, a Strawberry, a Bart Simpson, a Bermuda Triangle... (Jumpers for goalposts...) Those names alone are enough to give me a tingly andrenal rush of reminiscence. Sad eh. "My life's been up and down since I walked away from that crowd" (Weak Become Heroes, The Streets).

sent shivers up my back reading your list.
apart from the first one, i went to all those parties and did all those drugs.
no doubt we would recognise each other.
was glastonbury 92 when they had a rave field with live musicians mixed with djs and loads of fireworks? that was incredible.
another good glastonbury was 1990 when the MC in the 'free party' tent announced on the saturday evening that they wouldnt be stopping til monday morning. everyone went nuts, dropped another pill and stayed in there dancing for the next 36 hours.
theres a small clip of people dancing outside that tent in the film thats just come out. :D

Paradise Club, Angel Islington, June 1991, fairly dragged along by a couple of friends after a night in Pub on the Park, got a Dove off Julian Liberator, stood by the wall next to my mate Dom, sipping our pints of Guiness and wondering why all these mental looking nutters are dancing like loons to pounding beats and moaning about the lack of discernible guitar-based tunes to be had, half an hour later, the Guiness tastes like slop and is left to one side as Dom and I turn into the very same gurning’n’grinning nutters, didn’t sit down for hours, couldn’t stop dancing (if that is what you could describe our random limb shaking twitchiness as), driving home in the early hours with 9 peeps stuffed into a mate’s motor when we’re stopped by the cops at the Junction, internally I’m quaking as cop peers into the interior of the car at the tangle of dreads and legs and laughter, says we’re overloaded and quick as a flash, out jump 4 peeps, nice as pie, who say they’ll walk instead, cop looks perturbed at the lack of aggro and wanders off with a vague warning about don’t do it again, and then all back to Cranwich road to carry on bouncing around until the sun was up…fecking ace :D :D

biology in surrey in 89 , also a couple of sunrises , tehno-travellers in alfold in surrey 91/92 and my favourite friom the old days was ' chobham common ' spiral / bedlam mash up in 92

1991...not sure where it was. Got picked up by coach from the Rock Garden pub in Glasgow and then taken to a huge warehouse in the middle of...well prob somewhere, got raided by the police too..............

1988 a wharehouse in Battersea. Went with mates who were all experienced ravers and had been raving about them. Unfortunatley we got rubbish pills (for £20 each!) and I didn't enjoy the night as much as I was hoping to. Didn't go again for 3-4 years.
