Three films I watched all made a break for my top 3; The Florida Project, Lady Bird and Three Billboards outside Ebbing Missouri.
All fantastic. All of them telling very female stories. I'm generally not a fan of forced diversity or the Bechdel test - a good film is a good film. Dunkirk is a prime example where Bechdel is totally meaningless.
But these films had no agenda with regards to identity politics- they were just great with excellent performances.
Greta Gerwig especially has a bright future- she has risen out of the mumblecore genre to make great human drama comedies, reminiscent of 70s Woody Allen
