Your staple quick dinner

What dish do you tend to whizz up when you just need something quick and nice?
............
Just chop the garlic into a few chunks, throw it in the oil with 4 dried chillis, take them out when the garlic browns, throw in basil for a few seconds, take it it, then dump in the tomatoes and leave for 10 mins in the flavoured oil. Then everything onto the pasta once it's cooked. Top Italian noshing. :)
This. But instead of tomatoes, put brocolli in with pasta for last 5 minutes. Fresh chillis, though. And don't take them or the garlic out before eating. :)

and:
Tin of sardines and bowl of couscous
Dahl and nan bread from the freezer

Those frozen strips of chicken breast that cook in about 2 minutes under the grill, sprinkled with whatever is to hand (paprika, garlic power, even chili powder if laziness is overwhelming), in a piece of flatbread (I buy that in bulk and it's always in the freezer), with salad or a "salad" made of whatever bits of veggie are languishing in the fridge, with a bit of yoghurt, creme fraiche or mayo, again, whatever is lying about.

oh and this, but with anchovies in at the same time as the garlic, and parmasan at the end.

For a while I used to do a pea soup that was basically, cook peas, whizz in blender with creme fraiche and mint. Lush!

Mine is Tuna Suprise, the suprise being that it's the same everytime.

Fry up tuna and onions
Throw on pasta, noodles, rice or cous cous
Cover it in black pepper

Failing that pasta n pesto

Or Ryvita with butter and salt n pepper

Another vote for pasta/pesto...
Coming from Stoke - Cheese oatcakes.
Some sort of condiment sandwich.

I love cooking decent meals so there's usually a weeks supply of proper dinners in the freezer....

not a proper dinner as such, but if i'm desperate and need instant nourishment, i'll have porridge and hot chocolate.

Proper dinners would probably be pasta with tomato sauce. Or just fish fingers with rice and veg or something.

Pasta with blue cheese sauce...roast pine nuts, chopped red onion, bit of brocolli and peas. Blue cheese, creme fraiche.

Spaghetti bolognaise, or chilli prawn tagliatelle - both take about 20 mins.

Or ciabatta bread pizzas.

Noodle soup normally using left over chicken or prawns as a treat, spring onions, baby corn cobs, red peppers, spinach, chilli, garlic, coriandar and home made chicken stock.

I normally make the stock after having a roast chicken and freeze it so I always have a supply to hand.

Pasta with onion, garlic and tomato.
Pasta with pesto and creme fraiche (try this, it's lush)
veggie burgers/sausages with oven chips and beans
cheese on toast
ready made pizza

It's been a large rum and a fag all week cos I'm so busy, but I might get some beanz on toast tonight. It's quite often a brown sauce butty though.

Oven chips, baked beans and a something (veggie burger, small pie, tofu thing, you know)

I even use the beans tin as a makeshift utensil and pop it on the oven tray with the chips and thing :)

Am amazed at all these posh suggestions, I'll take notes....

Scrambled eggs on toast (a real comfort food). An omelette using whatever is in the fridge. Tinned sardines on toast. A can of mixed beans, a can of plum tomatoes and whatever seasoning available, either over pasta or rice.

Veg stir-fry with either noodles or  Left Over Rice  for a really quick meal, or pasta sauce for slightly longer. I've taken to making my own spice blend (star anise, mustard seed szechuan pepper ground, cinnamon and cardamom powder, fresh chillis and ginger) so my stir-fires are a bit delayed of late.

Yup, a version of that pasta or dal or greek salad or a fried egg sandwich.

Just pasta with virgin olive oil and black pepper. I call it Pasta Arrividirci because it is soon gone.
