sorry to be pedantic (well ok not that sorry :D ) but sound forge isn't a sequencer is it?

Isn't it?

What is it then, I've never used it.

It's a wave editor liek WaveLab and stuff. You could use it to sequence stuff just about, but it would be a pain in't arse.

Logic & Protools. Its all you'd ever need.

This is undeniably true and the combination of these two is probably at the heart of 95%+ of pro studios.

Unfortunately I can't afford Protools and Digidesign hardware but I love Logic with a passion, it's a proper sequencer with fantastic instruments and fx. I use CEP as my wave editor.

Tragically I've not been able to do anything for ages as the desktop PC at home is currently reserved for Shmu's work. :(

I'd guessed your 'n00b' status. ;) As you are a 'n00b', I thought you should avoid Nuendo until you're ready for it. :)

What set-up have you got so far?

Got a Toneport 2 with gearbox and a version of Ableton Lite (which I think might be ok for sequencing drums but haven't tried yet), and CoolEdit Pro 2 for the auio editing - which looks like a cool package.

And Fruityloops 6 with an invalid reg key :o

I'd been told Nuendo was basically Cubase Turbo - but it was another n00b saying that . . .

Nuendo is essentially Cubase with various other parts added for music-to-picture work and post production.

I use Reason and Nuendo. Nuendo is basically Cubase with a few more bells and whistles and twice the price. Unless you're planning on working with video, cubase is every bit as good as Nuendo.
