Well, aren't I a tardy fellow? If this was the NME we'd never collate the results in time for the Christmas edition and instead have to just go with whichever record label offers the biggest incentive. Again. Right, for those of you who are new, or have addled your brains so much that you cannae remember what goes on, this is how I work out what urban75 has been enjoying this year.

1. You PM me a list of your favourite records that were released this year. In order, from 1 to whatever number you feel like but no more than 20 please.

2. I assign points based on your orders of preference.

3. Sometime nearer Christmas I give you a rundown, TOTP style, of the top 30, and you lot bicker, complain, and heckle.

Please use this thread to debate the merits of albums released this year, moan about Radiohead, accuse each other of elitism etc etc. Please do not use this thread to post up your personal charts, as we don't want to spoil the surprise for later, eh?

Should be interesting - I think there have been some fantastic albums this year but none have been that big a deal, there seem to have been clear possible winners in previous years but now? No idea.

I've got a few in mind, but so far I can't think of a better album this year than Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!.

:)

Elbow I guess (The Seldom Seen Kid), although it's not even their best album, but it's a good'un - they all are.

also is almost the only album I bought this year  and I listened to it a lot more than Radiohead's (which came out in 2007 anyway...)

No idea, I couldn't tell you if the stuff I've listened to this year was made now or 10 years ago.

I am so out of touch with 'new' music, off on my own little voyage around modern classical music...

There have been a few decent albums this year. I'm looking forward to going through my acquisitions and having a good consolidate.
I can't believe it's nearly the end of the year already, yikes.

What's the deadline for submissions?

Also, whilst discussions of merit and ideas are welcome on this thread, only votes sent to me by PM or email will be counted.

Deadline eh? I'll give you lot ten days. Ish. Might get extended if I'm busy or you're tardy.

I haven't listened to any albums this year.
Jeff said he'd do me the top 10 of last years so I didn't feel left out, but he never got round to it.
I'll ask him to not get round to it this year too. :)

This thread made me realise i haven't got any 'new' music this year. :( But i have some boss old stuff i got, which is new to me :)

Can i put my vote in for 2006 and 2007 instead?

Really? Are you starting early this year? When did you open nominations last year? November seems a little early to me.

oh, stop moaning and get nominating numbnuts.

and anyone who wants to include radiohead, don't.....ok, just don't cos they're shite with a capital S.

Nope, normally I start calling for nominations in the first or second week of Nov.

For the purposes of this poll Radiohead's In Rainbows was released last year. End of discussion. Direct all complaints to the hand.

Some great votes so far too.

OOPS, you have to be right. I was walking on my way home, the other day, when I found that CD of theirs smashed on the street corner. Looked like someone had flung it out of an open window. . .

. . . somewhere from England.
