Your Nominations For Film of The Year

Jefe, I got the Neptunes attached to produce our Christmas single, by the way. Do you want to be Paula Abdul or the cat?

I just checked some of the cinema ticket stubs I have saved, and I remember quite enjoying that new Shane Meadows film, Somers Town. That was definitely this year.

It's five lines! You lazy git. So Somers Town is worth a watch then? I dismissed it after it got slated for being a glorified Eurostar advert.

But this vote is rigged!

I liked it. Really liked it, actually.

You wouldn't really think much about Eurostar if you didn't already know they had funded it. It is set near St Pancras, but iirc, you don't see any Eurostar logos, you don't see a Eurostar Train, nobody talks about Eurostar, or anything like that.

The closest it comes is that they get some tickets to go to Paris.

It's like love. If it's real, let it be out there for the world to see. Don't sneak around in back alleys; that makes it seem dirty.

Bring the nomination process out of the alley, and into the light.:)

Somers Town wasn't all that i thought. Over rated and under formed.

I hadn't read any reviews before I went to go and see it. I didn't really have massive expectations. It was a small imperfect film, and it moved me in a small imperfect way. I am not saying it was amazing, or anything.

Gwan then, send a pm, Shane Meadows will love you for it :)

Have you seen Meadows' other films? How do you think it compares?

i think i've got No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood mixed up :o

i thought the latter was superb but have stuck the former at no.1!? (in pm natch) and i didn't even like it that much. ah well.

shurely i don't need another pm to change me vote el daddio?

Just don't get the hype around 'Old men'

4mths 3weeks 2days gets my vote and as film openings go 'Silent Light' is unbeatable, another great film , released in Uk this year , is that the critieria?

Impressed with Kristin Scott Thomas in "Il y a longtemps que je t’aime" (I've loved you so long). Very difficult role, effortlessly acted.
