See, there is some seriously great stuff out there. It's good to be reminded that some of it is lurking amongst my music collection.

The Graveyard and the Ballroom - A Certain Ratio (the Ballroom side is live)
The Image Has Cracked - Alternative TV (about half the tracks are live)
Short Circuit, Live at the Electric Circus Manchester - Various

Yeah? What's not to love?
It's boring - like on many live albums the songs go on too long - Underworld are well overrated anyway - first album was alright but down hill from there really. Lazy term, but, 'student dance' springs to mind.

I was responding to Milsey about his comment that the record hated you. :p

I find you loveable you see. ;)

The bootleg I've got of Orbital's Glastonbury 94 set takes some beating, and not only for sentimental reasons - it's just an amazingly exciting set, well constructed but totally fresh.

I love Kate Bush's performance of "Breathing" from ?first Comic Relief or Secret Policeman's Ball or something...all the overblown production is stripped away to just her urgent voice and the piano, and you can hear the true beautiful shape of the song. Sadly lost the tape I had of this some years ago, so any mp3s gratefully received!

The last session Nina Nastasia did for John Peel before his death is a treasured recording - it was when she was touring with two of the guys from Hun Huur Tu, and they did a load of new songs which rank among her very best. Also I saw her play on that tour and it was among the top live experiences I've had, so listening to that session brings back happy memories.

Orbital + Glastobury = :D :D :D

The Young Gods - Live Sky and Live at Noumatroff.
Husker Du - The Living End
The Replacements - The Shit Hits The Fans and live at the 7th Entry 1981

Primal Screams version of Rambling Rose is cracking.

Programme by the Only Ones is much better than the studio one.

However anything that has the crowd singing along where the singer holds the mike out to the audience is crap :)

Magic Sam- Live @ Ann Arbour 1969 (despite the amateur recording)
Fred McDowell- I do not play no rock'n'roll.
Fleetwood Mac- Live in Boston
Deep Purple- Made in Japan

Can't leave this one out -

Stop Making Sense - Talking Heads
Oh yeah - forget everything I've said on this thread - the film of this is jaw-droppingly impressive

It's a great album. But it's not really a live recording, is it? It is at least, shall we say enhanced, by weeks worth of overdubs.

I like Live At Leeds. The original, not the CD reissue, which is the whole gig including gaps between songs, several minutes' waffle, and stuuf.

Why do that? It's irritating.

My hands down favourite is The Clash - From Here To Eternity

Yes. V.good.

Judas Priest - Unleashed In The East

Husker Du - The Living End

UFO - Strangers In the Night

Motorhead - No Sleep...

Rollins Band - The Only Way To Know For Sure

The only ones I've got are Motorhead's, the Ramones', James Brown's and Daft Punk's, the last of which is an excellent live mix through of the best of "Homework" and "Discovery" sigued together.

Nirvana live from the Reading 92 festival. Never been released but I've got a copy straight from the mixing desk (as do thousands of others)

One of the best sounding bootlegs ever.

Daft Punk are one of the best electronic acts I've ever seen - I think only Plastikman in '95 tops their Astoria performance in 200?

Really - that was the shittest ever gig I saw them perform

At the time I thought it was a OK'ish performance , probably due to the rain and mud. Listening to it now it sounds like one of the greatest live gigs ever*

* And I'm not the greatest of Nirvana fans.

Me neither but their greatest ever performance was at the Duchess of York in 1989 supporting Tad  (where's the smug smiley?)
