Sorry but when did this thread turn into a slag off someones choices. Plenty more posts on this thread to pick put. Why mine?

Because you were the first one to post a band I like.

Joy Division
Godspeed You Black Emperor!
The Pixies
Radiohead
Nirvana

maybe. Subject to change.

mmm...two votes for Counting Crows - probably wouldn't get into my top 30 BUT in Mr Jones, Omaha and Round Here I can't think of a better trio of songs which opened a debut album

one of the best choices I made live-wise in recent years was to leave John Prine at the Fleadh and watch them

i'm off to play those 3 tracks now :)

ps don't mean to derail the thread in any way but it was interesting to see their name crop up

sorry for being 50% responsible for wasting yr time cuz i was like not 110% behind counting crows, i was going to vote for the black crowes but i was just smoking too much and was feeling the vibes of the wrong crows :(

in no particular order

David Bowie and The Spiders From Mars
Talking Heads
Velvet Underground

But I wasn't, I was mentioning a band I liked. I just wanted to make it clear I didn't like the others.

Ah ok.
Just get a bit fed up that every time i mention Big Country there is always someone to say something derogatory about them. Cant help it if i like them.
As for The The, you not like Mind Bomb or Dusk, ok Naked Self wasnt that great but the other 2.

I saw them support David Bowie once - and they were much better than he was.

Big Country were OK, but the Skids were better. IMO.

I personally gave up on The The after 'Infected', probably because I had started having sex and so didn't need Matt Johnson (or Morrisey etc) in my life anymore.

I got into Ministry instead.

:)

in no particular order:

the Clash
Velvet Underground
The Pixies
The Wailing Souls
The Fall

Thats for today anyway.

Edit :Oooh 'eck - I forgot the Smiths! Can I have 6 please?

For now. Five I really like are

Clouddead
Quickspace
Dirty Three
ADF
Do Make Say Think

In the last month I have probably listened to and enjoyed these bands most, but overall I like other bands more.

Kinda fluid my favouites too, but these 5 are usually there or thereabouts.

Hüsker Dü
Queens of the Stone age
My bloody valentine
Lee Perry
Plaid

:)

Sly & The Family Stone
Joy Division
Kraftwerk

I'm happy with those 3 - it gets too hard after that, too many to choose from.
