Was suprised how much I enjoyed Minority Report and Munich. My favourite without a doubt is Empire of the Sun but I'm a big J.G. Ballard fan.

Not seen the Color Purple, Amistad or Catch Me If You Can. I'd assumed they were shit. The Terminal was dire.

Catch Me If You Can is pretty good, if slightly too long.

With the exception of the basement encounter with the aliens and the final cop out, I liked War of the Worlds and I was pleasantly surprised how faithful it was to the Wells novel.

Schindler's List - though given the content even I could have made a good movie out of it.

In general I think Spielberg is horrifically over-rated.

That's probably because you think Schindlers List is his best film.

I disagree with the statement above, it's extremely difficult to make a good drama out of the Holocaust and Schindler's List is a noble failure. So often people mistake worthy subject matter for good filmmaking.

You thought War Of The Worlds was a good movie, I think you've lost all right to criticise anyone else's choice.

That's a rather lame comeback and there is no general consensus that War of the Worlds a bad film. It got mostly very good reviews.

Indiana Jones - Raiders and Crusade. Not keen on Temple of Doom.

Empire of the Sun is an underrated gem.

I also loved Catch Me If You Can, even though I thought it would be shite.

Same here. Though I thought I'd hate Catch Me If You Can because of Tom Hanks, not Speilberg (Hanks always seems to play the same little-boy-in-grown-man's-body character that he played in Big, but he didn't do that in this film, which was a relief).

I have lots of favourites.

But the only one I hate is A.I.
AWFUL.

Except for Jude Law, who was actually very good.

The first Jurassic Park I liked a lot. Great family action film.

And I also like AI and don't see why everyone hates it so much, but it's not one of my 'favourite' Speilberg films, so didn't vote for it.

Close Encounters and Jaws are just great.
