Your Favoured Tin-Opener?

Blind Lemon has a Swiss Army in his pocket all the time. The only thing he finds useless is the magnifying glass for obvious reasons. Everything else is used often.

I used to buy corned beef, which I don't like that much, just because the special key built into the tin was so cool.

I have difficulty opening tins, so I have a Culinare one touch opener. You put it on the tin, press the button and it opens the tin for you.

I decided enough was enough after spending 20 minutes trying to open a tin of tuna with two different tin openers, which resulted in tears and tuna brine all over the kitchen.

My top favourite is the Good Grips one. Really excellent.

These are brilliant, require no effort whatsoever. Think my gran's one is still in perfect nick after who knows how many years.

Non, tin openers are the most pointless thing in the kitchen.

I only own a tin opener, a shite one like this, because not all tins have ring pulls on.

As to why not all tins have ring pulls on, is a mystery.

Tins without ring pulls are pointless.

Ringpulls render tin openers redundant.

The best can opener, imo is the good old, less-than-a-quid, butterfly:

It deals with all shapes and sizes of can, is small, easy to use and tough as old boots. We had one throughout my childhood and teens and I don't think it was ever replaced.

The butterfly tin opener. It won't let you down.

I hate them sooooooo much

I've got a regular butterfly one here, for the occasional time I've opened a tin. But I have an electric one back home, because I couldn't open tins due to a dodgy wrist. It's still a bit duff, tbh. For the most part, I tried to remember to buy cans with ring pulls.

I can't stand the ones that cut the side of the can and leave a razor sharp edge.

I generally have one or two of these about the place :-

We have one of those, and, for some reason, I can't get it to work. The butterfly one's fine - though I had to try three shops before I found one.

I've got one like that except it's not quite like that - simpler design. it works perfectly and is my favoured tin-opener bar none! dunno if it's because i'm left-handed or not, but i find most tin-openers absolutely fucking shit. but the one i've got, which is quite a lot like that ^ one but simpler (and doesn't cut labels off etc) is just right for me.
