Some of those homes are just ridiculously charming.
They're the expression of a peculiar approach to architecture that's designed to produce cheap, sustainable and beautiful homes and surrounding environments, designed, and generally speaking built by, the people who'll live in them. Most of the ones pictured there are in places like California, and the approach used would tend to produce more solidly built structures when used with our local materials. To realise the vision we'd just need a couple of hundred volunteers, some cash and several hundred acres to start building.

Any takers?

:)

I rather like the Butterfly House

Hard to find a photo that shows all the detail, as it's so bonkers. Apparently a family does live in it, though!

I want a big mansion with lots of people living in it but with everyone having their own space. It has to have a huge kitchen where you can bump into people and eat at a big scrubbed table, a library, a secret passage and a scullery. It also needs a walled kitchen garden, a ha ha and some cows and sheep and horses. And a small lake with a boat house and a tree house in the grounds somewhere.

I'm not demanding at all :D

i have been very lucky.

I live now pretty much where I would dream of living.

we live in a secluded large bungalow on the edges of civilisation with 2.5 acres of woodland for a garden and National Trust managed Heathland (Wirral country park) on three sides.

Its close enough to civilisation that life is pretty easy but isolated enough that we enjoy the benefits of country living.

but if we were able to move to a big scary castle in bigger grounds (*reminds self to check lottery numbers*) that would be cool. I have always wanted to buy Gwyrch Castle and restore it to its former glory...sadly this would take a shit load of money as its pretty fucked up

That sounds lovely :)

A renovated and modernised 2 bedroom upper floor Stalin-era flat based in the northern area of Moscow, near the Botanical gardens and other parkland, or, in the south near Ryazansky Prospekt- away from the busy centre, but not right into the dodgy suburbs.

Either one of these

or this beachhouse

Both in Oz of course not here I need sun and sea

Although if I had to stay here (and money was no object) I would want either a nice mews in Chelsea or a big fuck off Victorian double fronted, stairs from the outside down to the basement and ones up to the front door, Town house. Either in SE11, SW2, SW8, SW9 or SE5 (there's some pretty nice houses up Camberwell Grove) :D

*Doesn't want much*

:) i would love to live in a home in the country similar to the 'River cottage'
where i can grow me own veg,,have chickens and a cow to milk,a couple of pigs 'n' sheep,,,little ducks & fish in the babbling brook/river,go skipping in the surrounding forest,a huge aga,,
and be able to turn my music up without pissing the neighbours off,, :)
