Thing is - having experienced high-street fish 'n chips in other parts of the world; namely Australia, New Zealand and
southern Spain, 99% of British chip-shop fodder just doesn't cut the mustard.

The fish especially is fucking dogshit in comparison.

I must admit, it's one concession to sustainable food I haven't been able to bring myself to make. Good fish and chips is just too addictive.

That said, since London is apparently incapable of mustering even moderately passable chish and fips, I only eat it on the occasions I'm back in Hull.

For the record, a hot dog is a sausage of pretty much any description in a bun. Whereas a saveloy may be described as pretty similar to a frankfurter, although not identical, it is definately not a hot dog cos it ain't in a bun. And hotdogs ain't this colour

It depends where you are. Some fisheries have no shortage of cod (south west) and some have virtually none - north sea/channel.

Norwegian Cod seems to be sustianable ( thats another issue Obv. ) but the noggies do seem to be very protective about their fisheries and manage them well

British fishermen however seem to know better than the scientists and are more than happy to get every single immature cod ( i.e. under 8 years old - yes thats how long it takes to hit full sexual maturity ) out of the ocean and deprive the next generation of a valuable rescource. cunts.

I dont touch Cod any more. Haddock is the way ahead - ven Whiting are lovely, if a bit small.
