Your best charity shop/second hand clothes finds

A denim jacket and some boots I bought some years ago from Oxfam. Both seemed to be unworn/new and were a fiver each. Worn regularly still and the boots re-heeled :cool:

I got a sort of see thru summer dress in a charity shop originally from Miss Selfridge years ago for hardly anything. Of course I then had to buy an underskirt with it that cost more than the dress. I think it was from when the fashion was to wear a dress over jeans. Wore that into holes years ago.
The other best second hand stuff was from Quiggins centre or the Palace in Liverpool and it was some sort of home made punk/ flamenca skirt. It was realy tight, even tho I was slim then I had trouble wearing it, flame red with lots of black gauze. I lost it on a bus (no I wasn't wearing it at the time). Also several velvet jackets from same place.

mate gifted me a black prada wool double breasted pea-coat she found in a scope shop for 40 quid, the lining was a bit tatty but she makes clothes for a living so fixed it up for me.

really chuffed as just in time for winter and it looks dead smart prada or not.

need to hit a clothes swap, got loads of stuff I'd like to trade from a pair of jones' boots to a ralph lauren peacoat.

always seem to be on a saturday which is a work day for me.

Went to a thing called a "Free Sale" at the local anarchist coop. Got rid of a bunch of old crap I don't need and got a new batch of crap I don't need:

* a 500 piece puzzle, brand new
* an Egyptian game from a museum shop, brand new
* a photo/music box, brand new
* a USB camera
* a USB phone charger
* a piece of silk kimono cloth
* a couple of new hardback books

They had gift-wrapping so I had the books, the music box, and the game gift-wrapped.

I have some old kimono-type fabric and I'm going to make a boro patchwork quilted jacket when I get enough.

got a really nice pair of jones' brown leather brogues for a tenner. perfect fit and look really smart, well chuffed.

oh, and a real cool pastel pink strip ralph lauren polo shirt but it's a size too big, so that's in the swaps bin for now.

There is a beautiful Missoni top in the designer section of a local charity shop here. I was saved from myself because a) its overpriced even for nearly new designer and b) it's a lacey fabric that would pull.

I'm still tempted.

My favourite item of clothing is this 60s Lakeland hippie coat, which I bought in a second hand clothes store in San Francisco in the late 90s. It cost me $30 at the time. I used to wear it lots in London, but Berlin is such a dress down city, it feels a little too flamboyant here.

I know! I totally love it. I had to ask how long it had been in as I thought surely just out but it had been waiting 5 weeks for it’s new home.

I went to a $5 bag sale at a charity shop. All you can put into a shopping bag for $5. I strayed from my usual black/art school style and picked up some more loose, boho-style tops. One is white flowy cotton with crochet around the neckline. Another is a thin dark blue linen top similar to ones I saw in the 70's. A third was a worn silk top with large lace panels in light blue. I'm thinking of over-dying it with purples and darker blues and then adding some fabric glitter. I've gotten into the habit of buying things at the charity shop and remaking it. I figure that even if I end up not liking it, I can just donate it back to a charity shop. For $5 you can play with styles a bit.
