Your best charity shop/second hand clothes finds

My old black winter jacket - six quid from a Scope shop in Hull. It seems to shed buttons pretty much every time I wear it but it's done me well for five winters. I think it's finally had it now, though.

Strolling past the local charity shop on Wednesday I spied a hat in the window that made me stop dead in my tracks...

It was priced at the handsome sum of £6.00 and in perfect nick.

It was also too big for me :(

Funny this being bumped today - just had myself a good find in Oxfam. I needed a new pair of smartish black trousers, but figuring they're not something to get excited about, or to spend £20+ of my precious money these days, I'd try the charity shops. Found a lovely pair of Precis Petite (so no need to shorten, yay!) heavy fabric trousers with a hidden side zip, so they're really flattering and give me the answer to what to wear for a pre-Xmas wedding we're going to. (Now all I have to do is buy that corset from eBay) ;)

My last really good thing from a charity shop was a beautiful gold cardigan, it cost £7 or something though from Oxfam.

In a charity shop in Austin Texas, I found a pair of (admittedly fairly unspectacular) Savatore Ferragamo shoes (probably worth over £100). Black suede, technically Mary Janes, but quite almond-toed, low heel. Fit like a glove. $7.:eek::cool:

Some bloke the same size as me must have had a clear out as I got another TM Lewin double cuff shirt similar to the one above. This one was £5 but two quality shirt for £8 is a bargain and will get at least a year, if not two years out of them.

What collar size are you, mate?

I got a magic set for £1.30 the other day. Some peices missing but it had 3 decent tricks in it. :)

Also with the scarf I got a Tripp Extreme laptop bag.

It is fairly worn but solid, looks fairly waterproof and was only £2 so will do for a winter commute bag :)

My (nappa) leather jacket, £20 from Dr Barnardos of East Grinstead in 1990. The zip's just gone on it after 20 years (and it was secondhand so I don't know when it was new).

Aah a few faves actually.....I frequent a number of clothes agencies and the stuff is great.

I've got this knee length suede coat, natural coloured, with long sections all coming together in the navel area. Its great.

Also got a purple suede coat with like feathers round the neck, second hand. Some great leather boots, really good quality, and this Noa Noa cardigan which is so warm its worth its weight in gold.

But my fave is probaboly this olive green skirt - two layers of linen, then 3 layers of netting! Its fantastic!

Not a charity shop find, but I got a fab wool and cashmere coat in a second hand shop for £35. It's in great nick and ticks two trend boxes - military and cape.

Got a gorgeous M&S girls' cardi for my daughter - stripey with mismatched buttons, and a cute George denim dress with big fabric covered buttons in two different second hand shops. You have to strike it lucky with the right size, but it's good when it happens.

I found a baseball style diesel leather jacket in a charity shop in salisbury for £10. Quite pricey I thought, but it was cheaper than the other jackets I was looking at (having just past my CBT I was looking for protective gear) so I bought it anyway.

Wore it for about 3 years as a motorbike jacket, then got a bigger bige so wanted a proper bike jacket with pads etc. Stuck the chartiy shop one up on ebay and it went for £260. Jolly good :)

got some barely worn leather soled black boots for 2 quid on the bootmarket today. vintage military dress boots by the looks of it.

An Yves Saint Laurent 'Le Smoking' tuxedo jacket in local YMCA charity shop last year - for £2.99!!! I didn't realise it was YSL until I got back to work and hung it up. Wore it to BeatHerder festie last year and told EVERYONE :D It smelled of woodsmoke when I got home

I'm not into labels but I found a Kenzo black and white stripey top in a Camden charity shop for about £7 a few years ago and a Vivienne Westwood tshirt for less than £5 in another shop - didn't realise til I got home.

I have a couple of Charity shop jackets that I have worn and worn and still wear - not expensive but are real favourites.
