You have £1,000 to spend at MPB, what would you get?

I could blow it all on a:

    Nikon AF-S 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR

    for £984.00

Actually I wouldn't mind one of those but I would trade in another lens which I don't use so much anymore.

I'd get the Ricoh GR III although the price tag is way over the top.

    neonwilderness What would Badgers do?

    Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L II USM used £809

Then probably spend the rest on some extra Lee filters

I would probably get more pleasure from these:

    Nikon AF-S 50mm f/1.4G - £214 (newish, fast and weather sealed)
Nikon AF 180mm f/2.8 ED - £279 (very old but quite nice)
Nikon AF 105mm f/2.8D Micro - £249 (might be good)
    Nikon SB-800 Speedlight - £94 (I would like a proper Nikon flash)

which makes £836.00 leaving £164.00 free, if I could find a wireless flash trigger that would be nice.

I am the same about Amazon, hence my interest in MPB, MPB offer a warranty.

Is the II much better than the MkI?

That Nikon AFS 80-400 I mentioned up thread is effectively a MkII to the MKI that I have now.

Cheers for the heads up. I usually go direct to camera shops for used lenses.

I doubt there’s much in it, but the mk2 is better glass.

Everything I want now is either cheap (filters, film etc) or noticeably over £1000 (I'll have the Leica M10 cheers, they don't have any Summicrons though).

I had quite a bit of overtime in last month. I’m supposed to be clearing debts but now looking at that lens

Yes, I have bought a used lens from a camera shop. They let me mount it on my camera and shoot some images with it before I made up my mind. And it was only £45.00 so not so much of a risk. As it happens it remains one of my sharpest and best value purchases to date.

I always check London Camera Exchange. They’ll send stock from elsewhere to whichever branch is closest and I’ve found them to be pretty honest and reliable. They give warranty on used goods also.

It is all well and good this wondering about lenses and gear etc

At the moment all my gear (bar one) fits, just, into my photo rucksack.

If I bought more I would have to leave some behind!! :hmm:

I've just bought a Fuji xt2 so it would be fuji glass - for that figure one of either the 10-24mm or the 56mm 1.2 and the 35mm fujicron

Hmm. They don't sell electric violins or bass guitars. You can have your grand back.
