Ok there's precedent but we don't normally start a thread about a film just because of a trailer...but Danny Boyle...and this? Come on!

Could be good. A good idea for a script.

Think I read something like it in a short sci-fi thing years ago but yes...great idea.

A bit concerned that someone from Love Actually was involved, can't deny it...but Danny Boyle!

It is definitely looks like it is going for the mainstream audience.

The Love Actually connection makes me agree...the Danny Boyle involvement makes me disagree.

More info needed. Great trailer though.

disclaimer...I have not seen Love Actually, actually

The film was very good, not great but really good. Kept some surprises. I’d recommend it.

I watched it online last week, perfectly fine but not really worth going to the cinema for. Lots of well placed humour, songs of course and Ed Sheeran is really good. (Sheeran is apparently quite popular with the younger folks.)

It was ok, but was annoyed by Ed Sheeran whenever he was on screen. Enjoyed the cameo toward the end, but think the accent was totally off (Sorry Robert Carlyle). Other than that, it was standard romantic comedy fare.

  17. Poot

    Poot Everyone's a superhero, everyone's a Captain Kirk

I came out of the cinema beaming in exactly the same way that I did after Mamma Mia 2. In other words it's camp and shit and very, very frothy. But it sort of makes you happy and I completely loved Himesh Patel, as I knew I would. I watched it with my 13 year old son and he either loved it or was humouring me because it was my birthday. I think he actually enjoyed it though.

but Abba > The Beatles. Cannot listen to the Beatles any more as that shit is played out, but will never get bored of listening to Abba

They don't actually play the Beatles performing their songs - it's all Himesh Patel. But I know what you mean. However, Sheeran should probably come with a warning. :(

  21. I've just watched this. I enjoyed it but find myself wondering if that scenario actually happened would the world of today really react like that to the music of The Beatles?

Liked Himesh Patel - he is very watchable and I liked the premise but the plot fell short of the potential and Ed Sheeran FFS

Finally got round to watching this and i enjoyed it despite not being fussed on the beatles, richard curtis(apart from his dr who episode and the boat that rocked) or jukebox musicals.
Its a silly happy film that makes you feel good for a while.

We watched it a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was quite sweet and funny. I don’t get the criticism of Ed Sheehan; I thought he was quite a good actor.

I think its a relief theres somthing ed sheeran is not good at.

I thought this was ok. I'm a huge Beatles fan but thought the busker versions of their songs in this were underwhelming.
Why not bring a full band in and do them properly?
