XP activation - this pooter will self destruct in two days :(

I've upgraded a few bits and pieces on my laptop recently and on Saturday it told me that, because of this, I need to reactivate XP.

I went to the registration page where it said I had already ussed the product key too many times, and I had to enter another product key

I tried entering the COA anyway, and it said it had been mistyped, so I tried another two times. It's definetly correct, but XP won't have it.

So am I supposed to buy another COA? If so I might try something, erm, else...

Anyone else had this?

I have had this several times....I used to rebuild my computer on a regular basis and once you have activated the same license key enough times, flags are raised.

If you have a legit copy, do as suggested above and call M$ on the number it gives you. They will ask for a request code and give you a manual activation code - quite straightforward.

:)

I had the same problem at 4am once, but it was easy to call up M$oft and get the new key sorted. Well, I say "call up M$oft" but in fact you talk to a robot voice the entire time.

or you could go here and download the file to your desktop (you made need winrar to extract this!)

Extract it into a folder (once you have installed winrar, just right click on the .rar file and click Extract to)

Open the folder that has appeared and run INSTALL.BAT

Restart your computer and delete the folder!

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll try calling MS once I get off work, and if that doesn't work I'll give WWWeed's mysterious download a try *eek*

Otherwise I might give XP Lite a go...

It worked! I ended up going through to a call centre where the chap asked me if I'd installed this version of Windows on another computer. I said no and he gave me the numvers to activate. Thanks again!

Access code wrong :rolleyes::mad:
Fuck the cat that look like each fucking letter has a cat on it.

Me and the robot never got on - I always ended up being put through to a real person as I could never get it to accept my details....

Still - glad the OP got it sorted.
