Xabi Alonso scores from own half - AGAIN!

Liverpool should of had one themselves

I think Liverpool should have had a penalty but the ref was right not to give the pens for Newcastle.

There is a big difference between an attacker blasting the ball at a defenders arm from two yards and a defender handling the ball three times in a second.

Or a big difference between playing away and....

Absolutley. I refer you to Everton v Watford this season. One was given to the home team which shouldn't have been. One wasn't given to the away team which should have been.

Carragher's handball v Newcastle probably should have been a penalty. Babayaro's handball definitely should have been a penalty. The fact that he should have been sent off in the first half for cuffing Kuyt in the face is another small detailed which has been missed.

I don't blame the keeper, except for being too far off his line in the first place. I can't see how it's a 'simple take'. He has to run back to catch a ball travelling like a rocket over his head, and he has to look over his shoulder as he does it - he slips because he's not getting there. Were it a cricket ball that wouldn't go down as a dropped chance.

What about Scott Parker - gets the ball smacked on his arm. Holds his face Rivaldo style.

funny.

Those chances aren't arsenal or man u chances they are bolton chances. Newcastle are an easy team for us, 3 points every season. We struggle when we play 4-4-2, 4-5-1 means we can keep a clean sheet (forget drogba's brilliant goal) but struggle to score. I don't think we have the personnel for 4-4-3 and 3-5-2 (could be wrong, but i haven't seen it under rafa).

;)

No way.. Alonso's went in due to goalkeeping error.. Gudjonnsen's was absolutely perfect, even if it was a few yards nearer to goal.

Did Gudjonnsen break up a menacing attack on the edge of his penalty area, take it round the ref a few times and then ping a bewt 70 yards at pace.

That doesn't affect the size of the pitch or goals now, does it?

I thought everyone knew that they used bigger goals and shorter pitches in the Championship.

the babayaro thing, is that from when babayaro pushed kuyt's face, and got his shoulder, in the penalty area or was there another incident?

halsey is pretty rubbish isn't he. giving newcastle a free-kick that wasn't just after the penalty claims. tool.
