Writing a letter of complaint

well i've got pseudo to read it and he cant see anything that would imply i'm happy for my details to be shared will all and sundry.

although i included a lot about my medical treatment in the first letter that doesnt mean i want everybody to see subsequent stuff does it? surely it my right to disclose information if i feel like it.

Given that you haven't signed anything to that effect then, no, it doesn't.

Has he copied all the results etc etc or just the letter that came with them? Sorry, can't see what he's sent so just wondering if he's actually sent the results or just the letter to them to say 'look, I've provided wiskey with the results now'

IYSWIM

there wasnt a letter with them. they ARE the letter. the letter starts

"dear miss XXXXX, i have been able to review your most recent scan results .. . . . "

it doesnt even mention the complaint but then at the bottom theres a ream of CC's.

i think i'll start by writing a letter.

or two

i've got the number for unisons medical negligence team. i havent used it so far but i might now.

psaudo's saying i should contact the GMC.

The hospital should have a patient liason person whose ear you can bend if stuff isn't getting sorted quickly enough - they usually have a direct link to the chief exec's office, and it's from there you will eventually be receiving your reply. Write directly to the chief exec if you haven't received your reply in time as well, cos that should raise all kinds of merry hell in the department that's fucked you around.

Hassling the GMC's probably a good idea, as is finding out which professional body this twerp is affiliated to, and writing to them as well.

well nothing arrived in the post today so they've missed their own deadline. so the healthcare commission might be the way forwards but i cant do that until the hospital have dealt with my complaint unsatisfactorily - they havent done that they havent responded at all.

thanks

have you tried the PALS service at the hospital. they are meant to help with making a complaint though my own experience of them is less than promising. they seemed to eb completely on the hospital's side.

but the PALS servive at your hospital may be better

i have had no response from the PALS service. i might ring them if they dont respond to the letter i posted this morning.

i'm trying to deal with the complaints dept cos thats who PALS told me to write to.

rang pals who say the complaints dept is closed but according to my record the response to the complaint was posted 28th march. well thats too late in my view, that means i receive it after their own 28 day limit.

she also said that if i'd given permission for them to share info they would but if i hadnt then it was in breach of confidentiality.

IIRC pals are the replacement for the old community health councils . CMCs were great as they'd actually write the letters for you and knew exactly who tio send them to and stuf. CMCs were abolished a few years ago and replaced by the less helpful PALS

have you thought about what it is that you want to get out of the process. is is just an apology or an explanation or what? going therough a complaint can be stressful and i don't know if you need that on your plate at the moment.

i've seen plenty of people who get so sucked into the process itself that they lose sight of what it is they're after. i'm not saying that would be you but it's always an idea to rememebr what it is you hope to gain and whether that goal is worth the pain/effort of getting it

sorry i haven't read the whole thread so may be going over old ground

fair points.

1 - i want a written apology for sending personal private copies of my medical treatment to my employer and my MP without my explicit consent.

2 - i want them to stop using hand written notes on peoples medical files.

3 - i want them to waive the £50 fee they charge for copies of medical records, this is the maximum they are allowed to charge yet they charge it as flat rate.

4 - i want them to stop using Belgian Drs who couldnt give a fuck about their patients and leave the country and therefore their patients without any support.

5 - i want them to accept that had they referred me for physio straight after my op instead of 4 months later i might have been back at work by now.

6 - i want them to accept that not being able to tell a patient what operation was performed on them for 5 months because you are unable to read the handwriting of the surgeon is completely unacceptable (see point 2)

umm.

i think thats it for now.

Did I read this right and it was from KCH?

If so I've just got through (if I have got through) a process of complaining against them in which they took far longer than the promised 28 days to reply to me despite several reminders.

They then sent a response which while fair in some ways, simply ignored about half the specific points I'd asked them to deal with.

Normally I'd be back on the case but as I now live in Southern Europe rather than South London I'm not sure I see the point. Anyway, if you want and help or advice, PM me. I'm the Complaint Letter King.

lol, glad to see i'm not alone.

yes its kings :(

the PALS woman said that the cheif exec had written to me but i havent recieved it yet.

frankly i'd quite like to move to southern spain and forget all about it.

i had a great one, a letter direct from a consultant apologising for their losing a referral letter somewhere in their system, telling me that he's sure the complaints manager will also be responding to me separately in relation to my 'complaint'. the complaints manager writes and tells me me the consultant is mistaken in referring to the issues that I have raised as a 'complaint' because it's not b eing treated as a complaint - even though the complaints manager (and isn't there a clue in his job title? or is it just me?) has previously emailed me on the subject of 'your complaint'.

i figure it must be a statistical sleight of hand thing going on - whenm is a complaint not a complaint? when it's 'issues you have raised'. bastards.
