same here. GAP however have never been the answer to my woes.

Gap (for jeans) were nearly the answer to my woes but they still weren't a perfect fit. I would rather not get my jeans from Gap at all but when you want to buy an item that looks good, sometimes you have to try every shop.

Decent sale on at the moment.. two shirts for £10 each..  Doubt I'll ever wear them mind.

why don't you integrate them with other selected items to achieve a satisfactory overall 'look', and hopefully a very pleasing result

my last pair of jeans were from gap and i've worn them and worn them for nearly a year now and they're about to die. i don't know what i'll do cos i love them so much :(

what's wrong with me then? why won't jeans fit? :( the only ones I saw i liekd were expensive diesel jeans- the waist was too low tho. :(

for me it's cos i want a loose straight legged jean, low-cut waist and plenty of room in the arse. i can get boot-cut jeans that make my thighs look like sausages in a range of places, but slouchy non-flared jeans are hard to find (edit: unless you're a size 8 to 12, that is  )

what kind of jeans are you looking for?

as an aside, for some reason about half the charity shop trews i bought in the early 90s (when my then-missus was getting me to decrustify) came from gap and i shredded them in months. the buttons would come off, the zips would break and the ankles would shred and take the rest of the lower leg with them. i'm glad that i didn't pay serious money for them.

Where do you shop then? Because most clothes shops have their clothes made in sweatshops by kids.
but ... but ... but

tiny stiching, from tiny hands = longer lasting ... better quaility :D

Gap's sizing is all wrong. I'm a 14 everywhere, but I just about squeezed into a Gap 18.

Or maybe Gap's sized are spot-on and I'm getting a bit lardy :D

I tried on some jeans and squeezed into a size 8!!!! I have never been a size 8 around my butt. I think the last time was before puberty hit!

then why buy two, even if a tenner? That's several tins of beer for some items that might sit in a cupboard!!

Err.. there's always the hope I may not got too cold in them or summat.. I dunno!! Consumerism hey!

i want tight jeans that don't make my thights big. so far, so bad. Oh and I also have a thing about my love handles.. don't like low waist cos i feel i have a ring of excess flesh just hanging out. uuuh. not too sure what size i am, maybe 10?

really? wow. i guess i just assumed that cos i fit a gap 18, i must actually BE an 18 on my lower half. maybe i should overcome my shopping phobia and go try things on somewhere else, to check?!
i'm so tempted to start a thread keeping track of which shops suit which body types (eg: morgan - tall and skinny people; etc). i just got a black pencil skirt in wallis which is a size 14, and i never thought i'd fit into it; my sister made me try it on. they clearly cut generously. it'd be so useful to know which shops to try and which ones not to bother with!

GAP sizes are weird.

plus there's the yank sizing thing, which always confuses me for 10 minutes when i go in there. uk 18 = us 14 therefore i always get paranoid that nothing will fit me before realising - doh!

Sizing differs so much from place to place, I've got no idea what a true size 14 is. I read that Topshop switched to vanity sizing a while back... I wonder which other retailers like to flatter us?

Nope, but I did buy a lush khaki winter jacket from there last summer, in the sale. Was only £20 and is just a duvet with arms :)

I boycot CAT products, even though I love their boots :(

Are you sure it wasn't an American size 18 -- ie a British size 14?

The Gap is good for when you need something basic. I bought some black pants and a black blazer from the Gap recently--plus a friend of mine works at Banana Republic so I got a discount.

political activism is officially DEAD in Suburban75. I'm apalled...discussion of dress sized when the planet is being wrecked! This cut and paste is from elsewhere on the U75 website...

A promising new candidate for a top 5 place is GAP. As Stan Nichols explains: 'GAP, Inc should definitely be included in with boycott top five , not only for their refusal to pay workers a living wage, but also for not allowing their plants to be inspected by other sub-contractors they hire. The Fisher family (founders of Gap, Inc which includes, Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy) is reported to be worth 11 billion U.S. dollars, Donald Fisher alone: 8 billion. Gap CEO, Millard Drexler makes over 24,000 per HOUR! Not only can they not afford to pay a decent wage to their workers, but they can't afford to pay for conservation or restoration plans for the 235,000 acres of old growth forest they bought from Louisiana Pacific in Mendocino and Sonoma Counties. They are rapidly logging and killing the ecosystem in Northern California to make a greasy dollar. When the land is dead, it is rumoured that they will sell it for real-estate development. Consumers need to know what is behind Gap's label!'

OK. who buys Esso petrol?
