Those are all great albums, except Mpeople and BDB
i like poking myself in the eye, doesn't mean other people should copy me.i like elbows album, there are some lovely poetic tracks on there and they've been at it a long time so why not. well done elbow
So what's wrong with M-People then?
(quick google reveals it was our welsh chum Tom Jones who was the '"bellowing fuckpig" apparently)
post #5 refers innitNo, it was Heather Small. It is written in lore.
A thread entitled thus, before anti"cunt" Taliban took over thread titles.
They're all wank except Portishead. Pulp are worth their due, and Roni Size had his moment, and fucked it up. PJ Harvey should have kept it UK rather than emulating Yank wank.
I'm glad you posted that list, because it goes to show what a bunch of Sony bollocks the Mercury wankfest is, was, and ever shall be.
Thank fuck I can download them all and delete them for free via bit torrent.

No. Let's be fair. They are mostly good albums - "Different Class" is good, "Suede" is good, "Stories From The City" is good and so on. They're just in no way what you'd call "cutting edge", they are very safe choices when they're made.
But they are 'cutting edge' compared to the brits or the mtv awards or whatver
Fuck the Brits or MTV, everyone knows they're all shite; either way, they are decent enough albums.

I just put suede on and I would stick up for them as well
I remember the outcry when mpeople won as well
Suede are cunts. Brett Anderson is a cunt.
Please let's clear this up before we go any further.
Mike Pickering (AKA M-People) with his bellowing fuckpig vocalist Heather Small - ayup, he was a cunt too.
Look, if we're going to play the credibility game, we may as well give Oasis points for ripping off Beatles/Slade riffs.
I'll not begrudge anyone from having a go at their chosen passion, but to be awarded for it???
Mercury Music Prize is a load of bollocks.

Roni Size

you aren't really making much sense there pk
I will stick up for suede by suede because it was a great album and a great antidote to all the shoegaze bands who were about at the time
remember what indie sounded like when suede appeared? british people trying to be nirvana
Suede were shit.
What you might call "shoegaze" I reckon way pre-dated Nirvana.... but then I'm an old cunt what remembers pre-Nirvana music, and as good as "Nevermind" was.... really fucking good... it's never going to be as good as the Jane's Addiction album "Nothing's Shocking" from 1988.
Not as cool cover sleeve as the baby grabbing the dollar, but better for music.

I was 8 in 88 so I don't remember that at all. I do remeber public enemy and De La Soul, but rock bands at that age were just something my friends big sister was into
Anyway, Suede by Suede was a great album,
like all the boys
in all the cities
we take the poison
take the pity
Well now that you're older you can listen to it properly.
It is way better than Nirvana. Just because the singer died don't make it magic. Just look at Joy Division, once they got rid of their dead weight they improved.
Torrent file for the JA album is easily found online.
And George Formby could have done the Suede back catalogue much better.
I was into nirvana before he topped himself. don't think i would care otherwise. they were fucking great at the time it absolutely cut me up having someone who was a hero just kill himself
I really can't be arsed to get into another rock band. I just got into the libertines last year and that was another letdown, I will listen to Janes Addiction at some point, but i would prefer to listen to new stuff tbh
No, you will do as you are told.
Fuck the new stuff.
D/L "Nothing's Shocking" by Janes Addiction and rejoice in the fact that you never knew an LP could be so good.
And chicks dig it too, so grab hold of what's left of the summer and bliss yourself out.
