Worst veggie product available?

Tis like hating nuts cos a mate has an allergy imo!

I can see where you're coming from.. but it's more that the more I read about it and know about it.. the more wrong it seems. It's not quite the same as the nut thing. I do have a friend allergic to nuts and that hasn't put me off nuts at all!

I can eat it - and occasionally, I do if I have to and I can understand why it's popular. I just have a bit of a thing about it - it's also a bit too meat-like for me tbh.

indeed....can anyone explain to me why vegans, et al, are always trying to make their veggies look like meat? i mean, whats the point?

do they miss chicken, pork and beef so much that they must make their 100% meat-free products emulate them?

and if i told anyone that i was a meatatarian and only ate meat would people look at me weird?

these are some questions i want answers to.

Dead animals don't have the only right to be made into shapes:confused:
I have been veggie for most of my life so don't miss meat but like different textures and tastes sometimes. Why should a 'sausage' be only made out of meat? It is just a shape of food that is easily made, cooked and eaten.

I know where you are coming from-is not the most organic of foods-don't eat it much but like to know I can and in moderation-just get defensive sometimes when in real life, drug taking, booze swilling, pot noodle eating, animal consumers get aghast at the thought of a quorn burger:D

i don't know....maybe because they've been traditionally made of meat for thousands of years?

I wholeheartedly agree. Vile stuff.

DC – just because a person chooses not to eat meat doesn't mean they didn't necessarily like the taste of it when they did eat it.

I used to love the taste of some meats, but I choose not to eat it now. If there are some meat-replacement foods that emulate that taste/texture then I'm up for trying them. Some get it wrong, some get it really really wrong, but it's a bit much implying that because a person won't eat a dead animal they are only allowed to eat a prescribed set of fruit, vegetables and pulses for the rest of their lives.

You might not 'get it', but I doubt there's many vegetarians or vegans out there who actually give a shit.

Veggie haggis is lovely

Burns Night was 25th January and a friend invited me to a Burns Night party on the 26th. But the rule is you have to bring a Haggis. Now I'm a vegetarian but the friend said she thought I could get a vegetarian haggis at Sainsbury's.

So I went down to Sainsbury's in Tooting and I spoke personally with my Customer Services Adviser at Sainsbury's and he confirmed that Sainsbury's are, indeed, in the habit of stocking vegetarian haggises around the time of Burns Night, though he could not absolutely confirm that Tooting Sainsbury would get a shipment.

In addition to this information, he also told me he had been to see the Spice Girls in concert and that their show was absolutely marvellous and, while pricey, worth every penny and that Posh, in particular, got a cheer when she came on and that her singing, though limited, was perfectly acceptable. He then went on to tell me that he had booked tickets for three of the four upcoming Kylie UK shows (Glasgow, Manchester and London) and that he was thoroughly looking forward to them. I gathered the impression that he might be gay...

Who would have thought a simple haggis enquiry would produce such a wealth of showbiz information?

Basically this DC. I was veggie for over 20 years and i didn't like many vegetables, i just didn't want to eat meat. So if i could find an alternative that was meat-like but not meat, then i'd happily eat it. I still don't eat meat but i do eat fish now

yea well thats ok

No they're not. They are festive. Part of Christmas dinner.

My parents aways did them with Christmas dinner and both my sister and I hated them. After we got married, our hubbies used to endure them out of politeness.

Then came the grandkids - we don't have them any more.

:D

They only seem to stock them around my parts for the Christmas season. Every time I see people buying them, I think "Brit" - and most times, I'm right.

They're boring questions that have been answered fifteen million times before on this website. Usually filed right next to "Plants have feelings too", imo.

did anyone mention scheeze yet?

I must say, there's a million and one nice vegan meals you can make, unfortunately a disproportionate number of vegans can't cook for shit (IME)

I love sprouts!

About the 'fake meat' thing - I've always had a fondness for shepherd's pie, spaghetti bolognaise, meatballs etc. My partner does not eat meat. God bless quorn mince is all I can say! :D
