Point is that the gooner fan said that he said that player was great for arsenal, and you 'disproved' his claim by pointing out that he was shite for Bristol Rovers...

Hmm. Because a player is shit for one team, it means he was shit for another?

Now this is an idea for a thread.

Liverpool have signed quite a few players who were good then mysteriously became crap overnight. Harry Kewell for starters. Robbie Keane is showing glimpses of his potential in this area too but I think he will start banging them in soon.

Veron was a fantastic player and he became shit when he went to Utd.

hardly, i just said he was shit for us. it was a long standing joke when he was at rovers that he never stopped talking about his championship medal. i was pointing out that despite his previous achievements, he was easily one of the worst players i've seen play for us

Barmby as well, he was good for Spurs, good in patches for us, and then appeared to disappear up his own arse at you lot.

Thought of another for Bradford City. Dan Petrescu. What a signing he was supposed to be! Had one good game for us against the side who released him. The rest of the time he could not be arsed.

I quited liked Barmby when he was at Liverpool. Won his only honours there too. I remember him and Murphy being important players in 2001, especially in Europe. How times have changed.

Players like Cheyrou and Diouf and Diao are more obvious failures but I can't vouch for the fact that they were any good in the first place.

Zenden! He was decent for Boro and was shite for Liverpool.

Jesus I'm gonna struggle to name the worst player ever to have played at Sheff Utd!

I could reel off a long list of shit players we've had (starting with the squad this year) but I really don't have the time or the effort to

jeez you're thick. he was one of the worst players to play for MY club. i saw lots of matches that he played for us and he was invariably shit, overpaid and couldnt give a toss about the club. i couldn't give a fig what he was like when he played for arsenal, but he was one of the worst players i have seen

how many times did you see him play for my club then?

the only other club I remember Hillier playing for was Portsmouth. I do know that injuries took a toll on him as it did Ian Selley at Arsenal at the time - but in his early 20s he was an extremely good passer of the ball.

Maybe not Fulham's worst ever player, but Steve ("£11.5 million") Marlet was a big disappointment. Looked the part, athletic, quick, but could he score? Oooh no.

fair enough but he was still one of the worst players i've seen in a rovers shirt :D

Bored too.

Here's mine

Itandje
Josemi Tanner Piechnik Ablett
Stewart Kozma Walters Carter
Dundee Meijer

Manager. yes - you guessed it Mr Suness

Disagree with Ablett, he wasn't that bad, Josemi isn't a bad player just not suited for the premier league as for the rest think old Torben just about edges out Sean (the snail) as possibly the worst player i've seen wearing a Liverpool shirt.

Gomes

D Kerslake K Scott J Cundy P Tramezzani

R Fox M Saib J Dominguez

C Armstrong H Postiga R Rosenthal

It's a pretty impressive shyte team that can't find room for Gary Doherty.

tbh, he wasn't as bad as the others that i mentioned, maybe more unlucky with fitness really.

ffs, we had andy linighan. now that's who i call a shite player.
Oh I dont know,Linighan won us the FA cup in 1993 in the last min :),Hillier was'nt all that bad tbf,a typical Graham player ie hard working etc.

A lot of players who break into top sides very young often suffer very badly with injuries. Look at Michael Owen - he's barely been fit since he was 20. Ian Selley was even worse. 2 broken legs finished him by the time he was 19. I forget which cup finals he played in for Arsenal in the early 90s but I remember him missing one in 1993 due to the 2nd broken leg (I think). He was eventually allowed to leave by Wenger having never played in 4 years or so. I saw him playing non-league on TV not long ago.

I should think David Hillier must have sunk pretty low to have been the worst player you'd seen at Rovers given that Rovers were pretty awful last time I saw them at Southend (not that Southend were any better). The article was right - he just passed it to either Limpar or Ian Wright - but given that some midfielders find passing to their own side pretty difficult - he did a decent job that season. I seem to remember that Hillier made the U21s back then too.

And Andy Linighan looked like Bobby Moore alongside Gus Caesar. And for those old enough to remember awful centre halves who circulated amongst London clubs in the 70s - Terry Mancini - he was dreadful at Arsenal.
