Worst NWOBHM / 80s UK Metal Band

Saxon were utter shite. Saw em live as early as 1979? I think. In Wales! Thankfully never ever again ...

By comparison, Maiden weren't nearly as bad. Saw em at the Ruskin Arms, West or East Ham (1980? 1981? ).

They were a right laugh after a few bevvies ...

My metal/Rawk phase was weird, started before punk with proper Seventies heavy rock bands, and continued to co-exist with my love of the Clash etc.

Did anyone ever go and see Blizzard of Oz at any stage? I did ... :o

<that's enough confessions. Ed.>

Manowar attempted to sign their record contracts in their own blood but fainted. Please tell me this is true.

Heh, almost as good as my favourite metal story about Wasp's Blackie Lawless suffering third degree burns when his flamethrower-codpiece backfired :D

Can you use "neither" for a set of three without employing "nor"?

helpless in the face of his rage at my impugning the Lizzy
Dub has lost his grasp of grammatical niceties.
he has also, alas, taken the bait.......

No..... coz biff byford is ace and i know first hand..... so to speak:eek:  :D

I've got nothing against Biff personally (except perhaps his taste in groupies!! :p :D), it's just that Saxon never really did anything for me, they were listenable, but they were pretty "meh" otherwise, at least IMO.

I agree ....it was a delusional stage for me indeed:D

My Dad encouraged music like NWOBHM. I wrote it on my pencil case at school. All my mates Mums embroidered their Wranglers. Not mine though:(

Heh, my nan used to sew the patches on my cut off.

And we used to argue cos she used to sneak into my room take it and wash it :D

Now you're talking. Patches, denims, not-washing, now we're moving into the heart of darkness of NWOBHM....and what a scary but wonderful place that is :D

Vardis
another vote for RAVEN
Robin George (dreadful pop metal)

can we throw in some europeans as well like:
Krokus (dreadful acdc copyists)
Accept...(actualy quite funny gay priest like militarists)
merciful fate (scary rubbish)
pretty maids (awful)

I also liked Mamas Boys and found one of their lps the other day but dare not play it:o

I've never taken anything Ozzy has said too seriously. :)

He's pretty solid on music though, and those early Kinks records like "All Day And All Of The Night" and "You Really Got Me" do have great riffs IMO.

I too was the stand-in Rob Halford - :D - Sinner, Genocide, Victim of Changes, The Sentinel, BTRofD, Tyrant, The Ripper, Grinder, Electric Eye ...

We should start a club, there must be others :)

re Saxon - cheesy lyrics, fer sure. Might be an idea to go and see them and hear what a great live band they still are.

i saw them in the 80s, and they were absolute cock. Why on earth would I go and see them now? :D
