Didn't his mummy ever tell him that yer socks go on yer feet, not down yer kecks?

Where's Haylz, she adores Saxon.

I love NWOBHM, I spent the mid-eighties as a proper denim and leather metaller:cool:

I saw Tank supporting Motorhead  and tbh, I think Tank were probably better that night. Wasn't it an old bassist from the Damned who sang with them?

Tygers of Pan Tang - great name, shite music. Anyone remember Witchfinder General? Or Praying Mantis? Gawd, it makes my ears hurt thinking about it....

I saw (among others)

Saxon
Judas Priest
Tank!!!
Venom
Manowar
Savatage
Witchfynde
Mama's Boys
Gillan (not NOWBHM i guess)
Samson
Saxon
Iron Maiden
and some more.

That's a well shady past :D

(although I saw three of that lot too)

Manowar are yanks and thus patently not NWOBHM, although they are Death to False Metal I believe.

eta: my work colleagues are starting to look anxious about the numbers of scantily clad hairy men that keep popping up on my desktop

I saw these fools twice :o

So did I. I thought they were ace (at the time) :p

Worst of the lot for me was a band called "More". They were first act onstage at the Monsters of Rock gig in about 1982. Anybody who shouted "We want More" the rest of the day got beaten up! :D

Oh yeah & that Japanese metal band Bow Wow (latterly Vow Wow?) -
"Hurrow Wedding. Are you weddy to rock and woll?!" :D

haha...that looks like a Pierre et Gilles artwork!!
plus it looks like the stuffed falcon has fallen off the guy's arm in that photo. sure i've seen it in other shots.

and didn't they have a song entitled "REAL MEN PLAY AT TEN" ?

how glorious is that?

(or perhaps not if your dad had been a member)

Manowar attempted to sign their record contracts in their own blood but fainted. Please tell me this is true.

All Fear the Sentinel

Judas Priest were not a NWOBHNM band.

Sabbath invented Heavy Metal, Priest put the Steel to it and sharpened the edges.

re Saxon - cheesy lyrics, fer sure. Might be an idea to go and see them and hear what a great live band they still are.

Metal? Camp as a row of tents and at times decidedly silly, but it's the most evocative, powerful and moving genre of contemporary music known to personkind.

Still proud to be a punkmetalhead.

Blimey, where do you want to start? Your 3 were all stars compared to some of these.....

Diamond Head, hairy bunch who promised so much and delivered so little.

The riff on "Am I Evil?" was great IMO, I remember turning that up loud at the end of the 1982 Tory party conference. The rest of their stuff I could take or leave.

Yep, Algernon Ward himself!

Whatever image the eejit is trying to project, a public toilet with clogged up urinals is the last place on earth to try do it.

I dunno, seems pretty apt to me, a long streak of piss next to the place where long streams of piss are aimed. :)

Perhaps if you discount the Kinks' early singles, which Ozzy cited as an influence. I agree about Priest though, who a metal journalist once said; "they may not have written the book on Heavy Metal, but they certainly blotted the ink."

(One of my fantasies when I was younger used to be to take over the vocals at a Priest gig when Rob lost his voice unexpectedly. "Freewheel burning"....:) )

I've never taken anything Ozzy has said too seriously. :)

I too was the stand-in Rob Halford - :D - Sinner, Genocide, Victim of Changes, The Sentinel, BTRofD, Tyrant, The Ripper, Grinder, Electric Eye ...

*I am a Judas Priest bore*

JUDAS PRIEST IS STILL THE FUCKING BEAST GIVING ALL THAT METAL IN 2008! BRING IT ON...

That's what i meant really, Am I Evil was riff-tasticly great but other tunes were a bit...wishy washy. You weren't at the Tory conference were you??? :D
