worst musical genre... EVER!

The sort of music that makes people look like this has got to be the worst genre.

gilbertpic2.jpg

British jazz of any era before the 90s is also pretty shit.

Grunge.

R'n'B.

Trance.

Funky house - the music for pretentious cokeheads with £ 50 haircuts.

Happy Hardcore.

Any religiously-inclined music, whether it be Christian Rock/Punk/whatever.

i can't think of one genre that i totally hate. even with rnb that a lot of people mention, there are some good tracks amongst all the boring wet shite.

'Swingbeat' all that slow 'Boom.... chk.....b-boom.... chk' 'Woooo-wooo-wooo-wooo-yeaaaaaaaaaah baaaaaaaaaaaybeeeeeeee' crap and it all sounded the same.

I was going to say Broooce Springstein, in much the same way as gentlegreen suggested Cliff.

Maybe they can have a genre together... they have much in common.

And what exactly would they have in common, smartarse? They're both male and have have had long careers in popular music, perhaps? Similarities end there, except for your well informed and totally justifiable prejudices, of course.

On the weekend, I watched a show with these really old jazz musicians from Montreal. They had the standup bass, and this guy about eighty doing the fingers running up and down the sax routine.

I've really tried, for a long time. I just can't stand that classical type jazz. The blues are ok, but jazz just seems so insipid to me. Elevator music for the gin and tonic generation.

R'n'B
Gangsta Rap
Hip Hop

Violent, mysoginistic (sp?), homophobic crap that all sounds the same. But because its the in thing with 14 year old girls - it's on every bloody radio station and music channel in the country.

BTW Trance rocks as does the multitude of sub-genres.

It's got to be Oi!

crap politics, thicko musicians, shite gobbing "fans"

What are you saying Oi ! politics were then ?
Why do you think they were thick ?
I never saw gobbing at any Oi concerts ( granted I haven`t been to any since late70`s/early80`s )

I loved Oi ! , past tense

Modern RnB just all sounds dull to me but i just put that down to age , judging by this thread i may have been wrong.

I was going to nominate that, damn you!

It is the worst genre ever!

In my first year at Uni (mid 90s) everyone just used to go on about annoying bands like Corduroy and the James Taylor Quartet. Fucking tossy wanky shite for people too unimaginative to listen to anything that doesn't tell them exactly how to think.

"Hey aren't we so groovy! And funky! We're listening to Acid Jazz!"

Are Galliano acid jazz? I quite like Galliano.

You obviously don't know what you're on about. Fairly typical for a trance fan (I used to be one :o ). Not all hip hop is "Violent, mysoginistic (sp?), homophobic crap".;

I think they were the slightly more bearable end of it... Nowhere near as annoying as stuff like Corduroy...

I have some Galliano and Young Disciples. Both on Talking Loud (an acid jazz label I think), both great.

80's music including New Order, Prefab Sprout, Human League, etc

I hate to say it but it's a colour thing. Anyone who wasn't white wouldn't touch that crap with a bargepole. They were too busy listening to late ska, early rap, motown etc. whilst that 80's crap was being whined out. I'm not being racist btw.

gotta disagree with you there sunshine
