Worst journey into work ever..

Whenever I read a thread like this I'm always glad that I'm one of those lucky few London residents who live within walking distance of work.

Whenever I see a post like this I feel terribly embarassed that I could walk to work yet still get the bus :o

Nice one! :)

I was going to look into my journey choices but that seems perfect (20 mins!!) Thanks very much for that :)

No probs - it's great that bit of railway, and rarely that busy if you get it at the right time. Since I moved nearer streatham hill I usually get it from Streatham Hill to Cricklewood. They call it the people's free railway ;)

Ah yes, I know what you mean ;)

First Capital Connect trains are ALWAYS delayed though, even if it's only 2 minutes. Ah well, it's still the best journey so far.

get yourself one of those spiffy electric bike thingys the metro had one £745 on review the other week decent lock set of goretex light helmet and a bag and if you have a half decent employer you can use the bike to work scheme to get the lot half price:D

<laughs at smugness>you were sitting at your desk by 7.45? I was still tucked up in bed, snuggled nice and cosy like under my duvet! :p :D</laughing>

I still couldn't afford £375 though :p

Cycling is 20 mins. Should've cycled. Should've cycled.

I say this every time I don't cycle. Cos every time I don't cycle (eg. if I've got a hangover or the weather's abysmal), the public transport fucks up.

So I cycle 99% of the time now, even if it's pissing it down....

My Tube journey into work is almost invariably smooth and free from delays and overcrowding - but that's because I work night shifts, if I had to travel into central London daily I'd have gotten a bike or a scooter by now.

I've been in Toronto most of the last week and the transport here's reminded me that I've never been to a city with an underground rail system worse than London's - I reckon it's time to leave the Tube to the rats and build a new one.

Those are pretty much the only reasons I don't cycle. Both seem to happen with depressing regularity.

Must. buy. mudguards.

Have you tried Lausanne's?

That is really archaic but it does at least run on time!

Not for me.. the 8:15 almost always leaves Tulse Hill at 8:15.. the 8:23 almost always leaves at 8:23. The 8:05 train that bypasses Herne Hill is normally about 6 mins late though, granted.

In fact, I'd say that the First Capital Connect trains i get are the most reliable I've ever encountered. Annoyingly so, no margin for tardiness.

"Worst ever"

Errrm, I think there have been a few worse. My wife on 7/7 - or indeed BKs on that day.

or when John f kennedy drove to work in dallas and got his head shot off. thats MUCH worse cos he died and was the president init

:p

Tubes leaving Brixton were taking ages to get going and were rammed this morning, by Vicoria people were almost sitting on top of me.

I managed to drag my trailing foot through a squirt of muddy water from an uneven paving slab on the way to work this morning, have had a soggy sock all day.

Well done :)

Chris - From Streatham it's fucking awful, always late honestly.

Are you sure you're talking about FCC? 'Cos they don't serve Victoria..

Guess it depends on which train it is..

It's quite a long way from West Hampstead Thameslink to your school - would take you about 20 mins to walk it. Or you can get the C2 bus or the tube 2 stops :)

I've given up saying that - it's not gonna happen, just like me riding around exercising is not gonna happen.

You really should !!

You'd look cool on a bike too

I cant wait to afford some light and bits for my bike then I can be uber mobile and as a great singer/songwriter once sung ;)

Riding through the city on my bike all day
Cause the filth took away my licence
It doesn't get me down and I feel ok
Cause the sights that I'm seeing are priceless

:p

I just need to get a trailer for the back and thats me and my bitch sorted :D

10 minute walk, s'a nightmare :(

Then again I did commute to school in the square mile for an hour each way for 8 years. I'm sure I had some **bad** journeys but I can't really remember any of them. Getting on the wrong train and ending up in all kind of silly palces was a bit of a pisser. Also having to get the 53 all the way home could be quite annoying.

some fucking awful alarm goes off with a flashing "Do Not Enter" sign (is that really necessary?).

You'd be surprised.. some people's journeys are so important that they ignore those signs, and still try to get in.

Never going through Victoria again!

I work in SW1 and recently moved to SE22. First day I trained up to Vic station and it was hellish. Like a grumpiness riot :(

So now I either get 1 or 2 buses and figure it's worth getting up earlier to get a seat and read my book in peace on a trundling bus instead :)
