Worst Fans in Europe?

Now all I can think of is if I had a PE teacher who everyone didn't suspect of being gay, with catchphrases like "come on lads, we've all got them" it was difficult to know for certain.

Probably.

Anyway, I don't even like English football, fuck knows what I'm doing in here.

Who do you mean by tossers? Fifa, liverpool, their fans,or their owners perhapsLiverpool co-owner Tom Hicks had reacted angrily to Gaillard's condemnation of fans' behaviour. He said: "The guy from Uefa who said that doesn't know what he's talking about. Uefa did not handle this right at all. To give 17,000 tickets to the two teams, particularly knowing Liverpool are going to bring 40,000 fans, is insane. It's a classic case of a bureaucrat trying to take the pressure off himself."

This from the man, remember, who was complicit in allowing 6,000 of those 17,000 tickets go for corporates......let him who is without sin and all that.

It wasn't just corporates though, the players, ex-players and people from the club all got tickets from that 6000.....

FIFA? What have they got to do with it?

Uefa are tossers for taking the 'worst fans in Europe' stance (Guillard) last week then Platini basically contradicting it yesterday.

The issue of tickets for the CL final has very little to do with this thread. The issue is that 25 incidents over 4 years by LFC fans meant that they were, apparently, the worst fans in Europe.

Except Galliard never actually said they were worst. That was how Murdoch's papers reported it, which was subsequently jumped on by bored footy writers everywhere as gospel!

Maybe he didn't actual use that phrase and I agree that the media siezed on it in the same way that they won't go for reverse headline blitz following Platini's comments yesterday. The inference is there though and I don't think Guillard has been keen on LFC since he had to backtrack in 2005 after saying they wouldn't be in next year's competition.

From BBC website:

Uefa spokesman William Gaillard said the problems in Greece were typical of the behaviour of some Liverpool supporters during the past four years.
Spokesman William Gaillard said: "That was just the latest example.

In the report, Uefa paints a damning picture of the Anfield club's supporters' behaviour at the Champions League final. Gaillard added: "We know what happened in Athens, and Liverpool fans were the cause of most of the trouble there.

"There have been 25 incidents involving Liverpool fans away from home since 2003 and these are in the report - most teams' supporters do not cause any trouble at all."

I wonder what constitutes an 'incident'? Has the list of the 25 that Liverpool fans have supposedly been involved in over the past four years been released yet? Can't wait to see it.

Check #12 on this thread. I imagine that would be one along with a few from Athens.

I know that but that's still effectively corporate tickets rather than tickets going to the fans of the club - after all, it's not like the players themselves couldn't afford to spend a couple of quid on tickets if need be eh?

On a vaguely related point, i have been wondering how much all this negative publicity regards liverpool fans has had on the case of Michael Shields, the young lad who, it appears, was fitted up for an assault that someone else has admitted to carrying out. Read about the poor sod over the weekend and it really does look like a travesty of justice.

The Millwall fans were singing about Hillsborough. The Liverpool fans smashed their gaff up.
.

They ripped a few seats up at the front - hardly smashing the gaff up.

The fact Liverpool fans are under persistent attack from the media and the 'Liverpool bashing industry' probably influences their actions in some ways however.

Jesus Christ lol.

Amazing how the media manage to persecute all of the big four teams 'the most as the other three are constantly proclaiming it too.

That quote in bold tells you all you need to know about Mr Hicks.
