Worst Cover Versions Ever

A friend told me to listen to a cover of Mazzy Star's Fade Into You by Pedro The Lion. I nearly vomitted with horror, it was truly the murder of a great song.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO
How?
But why can't they just leave the good songs alone?
These "Artists" should have to pass some kind of test before being allowed to fuck with such a beatiful song
:(
This thread is making me very sad....

Tom Jones - Kiss (Noooo!!)
Sid Vicious - My Way (I know it's ironic but it's shite)

There are so many more that escape me.....some don't even warrant mentioning because the original wasn't too good anyway (DJ Sammy - Heaven par example)

And their lovely pals McFly have done an innovative and well needed cover of Pinball Wizard..

oi, don't diss mcfly

That Limp Bizkit medley of Motley Crue's "Home sweet Home" and the Verve's "Bittersweet symphony" someone mentioned a few weeks ago was pretty nauseating...

Jimi Hendrix - The Star Spangled Banner.

Best guitarist in the world my arse. He got *loads* of notes wrong. And he didn't even sing, the lazy twat.

Do adverts count? If so I'd like to nominate the Wrigley's extra one; the song where the woman goes 'You're as cold as ice'. Except it sounds shit because it sounds as if they hired someone from an intensive care ward to cover the song.

Howard's covers on those Halifax adverts. Christ....

Although kudos for appearing on the Office xmas special.

WTF u on about? that was a great song!

Muse play a cover of something by the magnificent Lightning Bolt. Haven't heard it but it can't be anything other than a complete embarrassment.

I can't decide whether it's British Sea Power's cover of The Wurzels' I Am A Cider Drinker or The Wurzels' cover of British Sea Power's Remember Me. At least The Wurzels whizz along at a fair pace, so I guesss BSP have it.

why has no-one mentioned Massive attacks cover of the truly terrible 'light my fire' a song so bad that the will young version improcved on it and somehow Massives make it even worse?

Damn, good call, and on an otherwise excellent album too. What were they thinking of with that one?

I've said it before, and i'll say it again:

Michael Bolton wailing like a bitch through 'Sittin On the Dock of the Bay'

Did Erasure cover Nick Cave's "Straight to You"?

I remember being horrified. Or was it just a nightmare  :( ?

William Shatner.

He covered Bob Dylan's 'Hey, Mr Tambourine Man' and the Beatles classic 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' on his first album 'Transformed Man'.

You have to hear it to believe it.

Truly appalling.

Shit name, shit band, shit cover version.

I forgot FYC did a cover of Ever Fallen In Love. It was pretty awful. Their version of Suspicious Minds wasn't too bad though.

You are all so so so wrong. The worst cover ever ever ever has to be Scary Spices disgraceful destruction of Cameo's classic Word Up.

Now that was irredeemably bad.

Unforgivable, in fact.

That said, I though the cover done by the Scottish rockers called Gun was pretty cool.

*awaits flaming*

*hides*

I rememebr the time that the people who run the Reading Festival (which was meant to be a rock festival) put them on the main stage.

They lasted less than fifteen minutes before being taken off the stage amid a hail of urine-filled bottles.

Morrissey-thats Entertainment.

Probably not the worst cover in the world but the two dont do each other justice sadly. Comming from a mozza obsessive.
