Worst Comedies Ever!

Ok, just noticed that Tittybangbang is on BBC2. How the hell did this monstrosity get onto BBC2? It has to be the worst show ever, just not funny in any discernable way! Ah rant over.

What about you guys?

I don't know why but I actualy like some of it.

Now Catherine Tate? What the fuck is all that about?

I hate The Catherine Tate show and this whole British genre of patronising, repetitive and catch phrase reliant "character" comedy.

Another vote for friends, because it's so obviously unfunny. I've probably seen about an hours worth of it in my lifetime, and I haven't laughed once. Perhaps it only works for people with frontal lobotomies, because I can spot absolutely no redeeming qualities in it whatsoever.

Only Fools and Horses. Tedius

Little Miss Jocelyne. Racist humour sponsored by TV to appear not racist, and it's not funny.

Little Britain. Just boring.

I so disagree about two and a half of your points!
Only fools? Little Britain? Some of the most consistently funny stuff this country has produced.

question: Why is LMJ racist? I agree its not funny (welll mostly miss than hit) but how is it racsit? Its rips out of everyone.

There's so many. Thankfully I tend to miss these shows since I've grown up and can go out when it's dark.

Hale and Pace stand out as utter shit though and cannon and ball ....I could go on and on.

Spaced. Pathetic stoner crap for intellectually challenged dullards.

you're dead to me.

i agree with everything else on this thread though. especially kaka tim.

has anyone else ever seen coupling. somehow a box set of it exists in my house. i made the mistake of trying to watch it one day. call me mr wibbly but i always thought the point of comedy was at least to try to be funny.

It's slapstick. There's lots about it that is either very dated or wasn't funny in the first place, and to be honest I never liked it much, but it's basically about Michael Crawford acting the fool.

Oh God Coupling. The English "Friends."
It was God awful.

It was the first thing I had seen Jack Davenport in since This Life, and I couldnt believe how low he had sunk.

Not quite. The only west indian character, I've seen(the old biddy), is not treated with the derision that the african characters are.

Jocelyn Jee Esien is Ghanaian? :) I think. Or she is married to a Ghanaian.
Its all in fun I think! It suffers from inconsistent writing, but I dont think its racist.

Seinfeld and Frazier - perfect comedy according to the TV critics. Afluent, Middle aged americans moan in a vaugley witty fashion = COMIC GENIUS! apparently.

You are joking about Seinfeld aren't you? It's one of the funniest sitcoms ever.
You obviously haven't seen more than a few minutes of it or you wouldn't be mentioning it in the same breath as Frazier, the only thing they've got in common are that they are US sitcoms.

Last of the Summer wine. (old northern blokes fall over admist mild inuendo - again and again and again since 1872 or something)

Keeping up appearences. (major faling of a sit com to have a central charcter who is totally unsympathetic)

Some mothers do have 'em. -(even as a kid this made me feel queasy - its like laughing at people with learning difficulties, only not as .. er.. funny)

Butterflies. Bread. any number of 70s 80s family sitcoms - Keep it in the Family, bless this house,Terry and June - the list is long.

the cosby show. Utterly bland. Makes you wnat to die.

Freinds - A bunch of wankers with occasionaly funny lines.

100% agree with this lot though...

Also, I could never get those 'Q' Spike Milligan programmes, they just seemed full of bizarre WWII jokes that weren't funny.

I really have to disagree with the Cosby Show being included. It transcended comedy round our way. You barely saw black or Asian people on the TV unless they were starving, dancing or being taken the piss out of for talking funny.

I rarely saw culturally relelvant TV that I could identify with. We used to call each other to say there was an Indian family on Family Fortunes for goodness sake! The Cosby Show was funny and positive- we loved the kids and the parents and their friends. It was very moral (overly so) and made young kids from mixed neighborhoods think there was a life outside of their tiny bit of London/ Brum IME of course. Fresh Prince did something very similar, but I defy anyne to say that wasnt funny!
