Materdarkone started playing this a few months ago... I dont like it... he is nearly 13 and he is only allowed 2 hours a day but already that doesent seem to be enough and is the cause of many rows. I have made him read this thread, which by the way has confirmed my fears....I shall continue to moniter the situation closely....masterdk1 is only allowed on after he has done all the things he is supposed to do anyway, and if he screws up no new subsciption when the current one runs out... Any thoughts?

Two hours a day is so little time, its barely worth bothering. You can get so little done, esp when your new, just getting about can take hours its such a massive world.

That's gonna cause you some pain if rows are starting as I can see his point of view. Its a frustrating game anyway, 2 hours a day would be like having a playboy model as a girlfriend but she won't take her clothes off.

Yeah I agree and there lies the dilemma, It might be best he just knocks it on the head or ,aybe we can agree that he can have a longer time slot every now and again...I dont want to ban him as it would be counter productive.....I guess I will just have to wait and see.....

It's a tough call. But the game can be played 'PVE' or 'Player Vs Environment' which can allow for lower doses. However an instance can take between 2 to 4 hours to complete. So I would have thought working out a system where the hours are rationed but can be saved up and spent in blocks? Say half an hour a day or and instance on the weekend?

Instance require co-operation between other online players, so leaving it halfway through for dinner/bed etc could cause rows.

If you type /played into the chat channel It will show you how much time you have played a character. I have 13 days on my warlock. over a year thats a significant amount of time!!!

Get it off the hard drive if you want your child to pass any exams. There's no way I'd have done any homework if I'd have had WoW to flee into instead. Tell him he'll thank you when he's older, which he will, possibly.

To say WoW is fairly addictive is like saying the Pope is fairly Catholic. The whole thing is set up to find the 13 year old boy within and give him endless nerdy nourishment - and succour from other happy nerds.

I've had to give up; I may be a Level 60 priest, my guild may need me, but I have a girlfriend, an 88 year old dad and a job to do. I've replaced it with Medieval Total War, which stops when I want it to, not when my guild slays a boss, eventually.

Same here.

I've got a near 60 character and I can get him there with no problems, but to take it any further than that requires a commitment to the game and other people that I'm just not prepared to consider.

I have a life. I fell out with a guild a while back because they got angry when I couldn't go to an instance because I was going to a gig.

So, fuck them. :D

I didn't like to say...but someone has... thank fkk. :(

Yep, once he's beyond a certain stage in level 60 he will need 4hrs+ 3/4 days a week to progress (slowly).
