World of Warcraft is shit! Who's with me?

They all reward teamwork, and to an extent creative play, though it depends on exactly what you mean by "creative". I don't think any of them reward roleplaying directly; even if it's desirable it's not really something that a game system can comprehend, only other people can, and the system is the thing that gives you the XP. Perhaps some smaller ones. Roleplaying is a reward in itself for many people anyway.

I guess so.

I can see the initial attraction in MMO's, but the long-term hook really puts me off.

Are there any online games out there that reward creative play, or teamwork, or actual role-playing, or behaviour that doesn't have hoarding of welath as the ultimate aim? I doubt it, personally.

Er wow does. It rewards you for all of that with experience, levels and weapons to go higher still. Wealth itself is just a tool for more power (except for those that like to play the merchant). Power is the pursuit I guess.
A lot of creative play goes out the window though once someone knows how to do something and posts it on the net and your guild just copies that.

Don't do it, a few mates started with Eve - moved to WoW and I never see them anymore - they call it World of Crackcraft. Eve is bad enough but a lot easier to put down.

ressie does indeed there's medals for it but it's essentially an online fps and little more...

There's a definite link between WoW and obesisity. Most of the people I have ever met who are into it are a waste of skin, ask teeps about the sack of wheezing phlegm she is forced to live with :( :D

It was good but I found myself feeling unpleasantly uncomftable when some of the jokes weren't that far off the mark.

That is why it is funny.

I used to be addicted to TF on Barrys World back in the days of dialup - almost 10 years ago now and I'd play that for two or three hours a nignt everynight. Then I realised I was staying in with the intention to play TF rather than to ellivate boredom.

"WoW" does seem to attract the worst internet freaks too? Of course not everyone on it is a freak but the a WoW freak is far more freakier than your average freak. Someone told me it is the lonliest game in the world :D

My friend is in one of the top 20 guilds in the world. To be in that guild, you have to commit to raid 6 days a week after work. They have Saturday off.

He has to book time off if he wants other days off. Do that too often and you'll be booted.

My mate is in THE top guild on Arathor.
You have to be available 75% of the whole week (6pm - 11pm). Even if you didn't get a raid you had to still be online during those times.
If your attendance rate dropped you had less loot rights than a trialist until your percentage was back over 75% for 3 weeks straight.

He wanted me to apply but that was too hardcore even for the addict i was.

TBH, WoW and the like sound too much like work. A work you have to pay for. That said, I don't recall playing anything for more than 1 hour in 4 or 5 months time.

fuck that

our guildwars guild tends to meet up when we are all pissed after getting back in from the pub on a friday night. in game convos about "Is warren joining us tonight or did he manage to convince kerri to go for a curry?"

then some gimps will tell us off and we will tell them to fuck off and get a life. Then they see how leet we all are in ascended armour and stuf and they realise that it IS possible to live a normal life and still be good .. and they go off crying whilst we laugh heartliy and pint at them and cal then nooby.

then i go play CSS and get my butt handed to me on a plate
