I'm just hear to learn, brother. I'm in search of enlightenment.
So, let's start at the beginning..
a). How is Chess a sport?
b). Why is it in the sports forum?
c). Why are Chess geeks so touchy?
d). How can chess commentary possibly be interesting?
e). Do chessplayers bring their own pieces?
f). Why are they always black and white? Why can't they have their own colours like in Darts?
g). What's it got to do with Elaine Paige?
It isn't.
Perhaps you should complain to the editor that people are starting threads in the wrong place but it seems as good a place as any to put it.
Because you're back to your old form, for which you were repeatedly banned, of joining threads and abusing everyone on them.
Because it helps those of us who are at best mediocre players (such as myself) understand the reasons why good players are making the moves that they are making.
Not usually.
White pieces are sometimes creamy or ivory .... and I've seen sets and boards in all sorts of colours. Is darts a sport? It's been discussed at length in the sports forum.
I suspect this may be another of your poor attempts at wit and to show that you have a modicum of culture. "Chess" was a musical written by Tim Rice (I think) and which may or may not have had Elaine Paige starring in it. Apart from that, I haven't got a clue what you're on about.
b). I have never personally abused anyone. I think you'll find, if you can be arsed, that all the abuse comes my way. However, rather than go off crying or whinge publicly to garner support, I just take it and respond. You could learn a lot from a chap like me, you could.
c). I'm still stuck on this Chess commentary. Do you people actually sit there and wait for hours while some Russian nerd ponders over his next move?
d). As a child was chess your favourite toy?

I think you'll find that you were abusive, m'laddo. Selective memory there, but don't fret, I'm not as feeble as some.
Yes, sometimes waiting a few minutes while a person makes a move is necessary but it gives analysts time to predict what move the player might make and what tactics or strategy that player is looking to adopt.
I was abusive yes, at least I'll admit it.
15.01: So Bob, it looks like itsatoykov is going to move his King's Bishop's Pawn one square.
15.02: Yes, Jim, I think he might.
16.08: He has! What a move!
16.09: Incredible.
don't let the troll bother you

THE best thread on Urban. Fact.
Shouldn't you be playing Xsie-Osies with your scouse mates?
What, and get chased down the street by Maths Club? Not me mate, I've learned my lesson.
Oh.
Oops.
