World Athletics Championships 2015

Except your understanding of what it is to be "British" is incorrect, unless you're of the "Blood and soil" persuasion.

Brilliant stuff from Mo. He truly is the greatest British sportsperson of all time. Every time he wins, he shits all over racist scum like Mr. Retro.

Allyson Felix was breathtaking in the relay. The camera followed her down the back straight and she looked absolutely magnificent.

Michael Johnson has called her 'the most coached athlete in the world' but she is also just naturally graceful.

She ran 47.7 for her leg.

The pick of today's performances for me was Kiprop in the mens 1500m. He somehow won it despite being 10th with 300m to go.

A much improved performance from Phil Jones, BBC's post-race interviewer this competition too. In 2012, every interview included mention of 'laying down a marker' or 'being in the mix'. Didn't hear any of that rubbish this time.

In terms of stepping up when it matters, I might agree, and I think he needs some props from SPOTY. However, he's only 16th on the all time list for the 10,000m times, and doesn't even make the top 25 for 5,000m. I'm sure he has got the times in him, but I'd like to see him go for them with some good pacemakers. A step up to the Marathon would enhance his case too.

Comparing achievements across sports is also very difficult and arguably fruitless, e.g. Farah vs Redgrave vs Hoy vs O'Sullivan vs Taylor vs...

Just got an email about London 2017. Given it's gone in the same order as the Olympics, is there any connection or is just a coincidence? Given the Worlds take place every two years I'm figuring they couldn't keep up with the Olympics...?* :hmm:

*or the other way round, actually.

Places like Daegu, Helsinki, Edmonton and Stuttgart wouldn't get the Olympics nowadays though. I would add Doha to that list, but you never know.
