Workshop at Big Green Gathering

Sorry, but my 16 year old son flatly refuses to go, which is a damn shame because he's very useful for carrying heavy things.

My 14year old daughter is coming, but will only just about manage to carry her own (extensive) wardrobe  she will however, be very useful in the T.shirt workshops, and I fully expect her to become 'queen' of the teenage tent, she's already planning what music she wants to play there...
(Make sure your teens bring their mp3 players etc. btw..)

another 14 year old princess! :D  :D

aurora - are any of your teens boys?

I ask because our camp is a bit heavy on the female side and my 14 year old boy will be smouldering in solitary squalor.

Mind you he is an awkward cuss :D

tempting (not) :D

I'm going and will have my partner's 15-year-old son in tow (bless, he's even cultivated dreads so that he fits in better to this year's event). He could possibly help dampen your son's ire :)

He is, however, rather shy and does not usually take kindly to being forcibly introduced to potential friends, even in the most well-intentioned way. :(

On a heavier note, it looks like the shite weather is set to continue all the way into the start of August. Hope to fuck it isn't a washout

sounds just like my lad :D

of course we continue with the dry spell up here  the weather is seriously messed up this summer.

If it doesn't rain soon a never known to fail burn will dry up and we will have to haul water for the animals.:(

perhaps you could send your teens to aurora :D

we will certainly be already over supplied with them at our camp and looking to graft them wherever we can :D

i think they#re old enough to be self-grafting now:D

I shall definately be spending some time in the young kids area, as I'll be bringing my 3 year old son with me...
...I'm quite looking forward to it now, although slightly worried about the whole journey thing, which is going to be arduous to say the least.
going camping without a vehicle and with kids, kind of takes the fun out of it...

We'll have soft play, sand, water, a climbing frame, great toys, playdough, glue, glitter and other craft activities, books, games and anything else you'd expect to find at a good play group. Don't try to find us in the kids' area because we're not there :p We provide the play space for the campaigns' field, just round the corner from Friends and Families of Travellers and Travellers' Aid Trust. If you catch me in the right mood I might even make you a cup of tea.

In the days before we took 2 large vans and several support vehicles ( :D ), we used to get to the BGG by train and bus with two small children, large rucksacks, cooking equipment, food, nappy buckets and so on. Most useful bit of kit we ever bought was a classic granny shopping trolley from a charity shop, which we still use today for water runs

My sixteen year old daughter, who by all rights should despise and loathe hippies by now, has just surprised me by saying that the Green Gathering is her favourite event of the year

What's your age group GE? Will a 9 yr old find something to do? Will I have to talk to you? I could stretch to the missus but you know what ee's loike yerself....

Will a 9 yr old find something to do?
Not a lot, sorry, unless he's happy with a lump of clay :( We could get the pinball out if he promises not to lose the balls :D

Why would I want to talk to you in real life?

Right, I'm just about to send my mobile number out by PM to everyone on the thread (apart from Ground Elder cos he's not real) If anyone else is going and wants my number PM me :)

Ok - just looked at the BGG site and it seems my workshop is at 11am on Thursday :D Just as well I checked, I thought it was at midday

More of the BGI workshops here

I've cut out enough fish now, so we'll be off up Cheddar on Monday. If you're all going to the pub can someone find me to tell me? :)

No, you smell of fish :(

As Miss Shelf has pointed out the phone reception's a bit dodgy so maybe we should use GE as a grapevine? :D

I'm going to have a friend with a three year old join us (forgot to tell you penni) on sat and sun so deff will take a visit to check out ground elders fish

Ground elder - I now have this vision of you being some sort of tree person - very wise and a bit dry with lots of leaves (lord of the rings style)

ha ha
I've been drinking - I'm on holdiay and looking forward to BGG even in rain

The forecast isn't looking too bad at all now.

I thought you DID tell me that :D

Well I'll be setting off soon to get there by tomorrow afternoon.. :)

Have a good festival everyone who's going and maybe see you there!!! :)

Argh....I'm having a bit of a panic. I've packed everything, and well, it's not going to be easy.
I've got to go through it all and see what I can jetisson...
My little kettle is sitting on top of the pile, all pert like a little terrier wanting to be taken for a walk...:(
Think I'll just wear my hoody, whatever the weather...
Arghh...the sleeping mat...
I'm just wondering how hard the final part of the journey (getting from the bus, to where my mates are camping) will be. hmmm...
I wonder if I actually could leave the wellies behind..:D
And as for the frigging workshop stuff.... but  tho...
Hmm...I fear I could be in a bit of a bad mood for a day or two...

I'm trying to deep breathe and chant 'It's all going to be worth it....it's all going to be worth it.....' :D

Stressed to the fucking max - still doing laundry and just started packing

We're aiming to leave at 8am, what's the chances I'll still be posting on here at 8.30? :D

A green - take the wellies - you'll either need them or they'll ward off the worst mud

Madzone - see you at the felt making on thursday

have you got enough booze - that is the main thing? I feel a quick trip to lidl coming on in the morning...:)

My luggage pile keeps expanding like some grotesque montser.
My daughter has just realised she's not going to see her mates for a few days...calamity.
Oh, and she just came in and asked if there was going to be any plug sockets...

eta. Thanks miss-shelf. I've decided to wear my wellies for the journey.
