Working Near The Barbican

I was talking evening really - drinking at lunchtime is always a bed move for me, and I quite often have friday PM deadlines.

oh okay, drinks work for me. but all this booking eleven weeks in advance bollocks really doesn't. let's just go for a drink god damnit!

friday week, evening, trader. there. plan made, sorted, job done. argue and be slapped.

For a cheapo lunch..

Peoples Choice, Aldersgate Street, lovely homemade din dins, v inexpensive
Whitecross st is fantasic, jerk chicken for softies, ie no bones in it, but GOOD sauce, blinding chip shop, cheap cds, Old St nearby, free concerts sometimes in that church I've forgotten the name of.
I didn't know so many peeps worked round there, I'm in Moorgate at mo - which does make me a loathesome city wanker, but there you go! - and that is def my fav eatery/walkaround and take it in area near here

It used to be a somerfield and I used it all the time getting shopping on the way home. Now it's a waitrose and I hardly ever use it. AND waitrose want to buy all the other shops in that precinct and turn them into more waitrose. THe bastards - there's useful stuff there - a chemist, stationary, newsagent, italian resturant, dry cleaner and cafe.

i didn't know they were doing that, :( it is a calm and peaceful place to shop though:o

and waitrose are supposed to be the good guys - employee shareholders and that...

would be nice to have a drink in the evening there, fairly easy for me to get to

I work just off the golden lane estate, and Han has said pretty much everything. Although I reckon the best food stall on whitecross st. is the indian.

That indian stall smells pretty tasty. Haven't eaten there myself yet though. Avoid the jerk chicken stand - had a very dodgy tummy the next day.

You can tell it's good by the big posse of indian people that queue up outside it every day :) It really is good, three different (and regularly changed) curries, good rice and 2 savories (all sorts of samosas, bhajis and other deep-fried snacks) for £4? Get in :)

Bloomberg Space has some interesting exhibitions, despite being capitalist twats. I liked their recent ‘Prison’ show.

They are relatively innocent in the shenanigans and have said they have no immediate plans for expansion. UBS own Cherry Tree Walk precinct.

lol yeh me and cheg sometimes drive down there at the weekends. shameful behaviour i know but it's soooo much more preferable to the stokie morrisons or the dalston sainsburys :o :D

ah, plot thickens on the precinct story. There's something afoot - "save our local shops" banner and petitions.

There's a chip shop on Whitecross Street?

I've never noticed it.

It is a sit down one? I fancy the chippy for lunch.

and the hackney tescos? need i say more! :(

however, the church street fresh and wild is just a step too far... :D

never been to that tescos, but the green lanes sainsbury's can get a bit much sometimes, fresh and wild, have you seen the prices in there:eek:

It has lots of seating. It has a green sign and is opposite the little newsagents. Nearer the north end than the south. It's a good chippy, with choice of fish.

Do you know if it's a sit down one or just a take-away?

Yep, chippy has seats

Got an upstairs too - its slightly nearer the old st end - just beyond the current road dig up scheme on the left if you are walking from the Barbican.
Quite a few people form this building we are in at the mo walk up to that chippy in preference to the one on Sun Street - it is a good one their fish is ace

Oooohhhhh!!!!

As if there wasn't enough food action there already, look at this

Oh god, I'm going to need a fork lift to move myself around soon:D
