Work emails - useful or a pain?

Our office email system does not allow inter-personal emails. This is a good thing. Phone calls work better, but I can see how this system would fall apart in a larger organisation.
Oh no, we're only quite small (13 of us) but that would be a nightmare. We all need to refer to each other's work quite often and it would be a waste of people's time to have to explain or print off and give me the information when they could just email it instead.

And it's annoying to have either to answer or ignore a ringing phone when I'm trying to concentrate!

I don't like ccing though. I don't understand quite when I should and when I shouldn't and mostly seem to get it wrong. :o

Annoyingly, links like :-

\\server\queue

only seem to work from emails - not on webpages ...

Change the BIOS settings on the motherboards to all boot off the LAN. Set your DHCP server up to point to a TFTP image of Linux. Configure all network printers to announce themselves correctly to a single server, that then uses CUPS to re-announce them to the network. Setup the default Linux desktop to look like XP.

See how long it is before someone complains that they can't find the anti-virus software...

can by useful, but some people seem to have lost the ability to talk and just whack them out, more difficult to debate a matter via email
