Wordpress V Blogger

So I thought I'd try and bring my blog a bit more up to date and make the change to Wordpress, but despite its' claims of ease of use, I'm having some problems working out how do to stuff, partucularly when it comes to posting images..
I've been used to such convenience with blogger, there was a 'blogthis' button on my Picassa file that I could simply press to publish any of my stored photos, but this won't work with Wordpress, and from what I can tell, I have to either publish them elsewhere first (via flicker etc), or compress them first..(which I haven't yet worked out how to do)

Also Blogger lets you edit your own html for free, where as it seems you have to pay for an upgrade if you want anything other than one of the given templates..

So does anyone have any views on this, or reasons why Wordpress might be better than Blogger, or vice versa?
Is it worth making the change?

Wordpress offers far more options and features, but if you just want to slap up photos and comments with no fuss, you may as well stay with Blogger.

Wordpress allows this as well if you are self-hosting. Not sure about it if use their sign up service...

Wordpress is better if you want to do everything yourself, including hostings, and easier to intefrate into a website. Blogger is better if you want a blog and let everyone else deal with the technical aspects.
