I haven't said anything about how much or little remorse Woodgate has shown or whether he should be forgiven or not. I may have denounced the assault as "cowardly" and his ability as a player as "average", but surely the former's inarguable and the latter an acceptable – if deliberately harsh – statement of opinion.
There's nothing worse than someone who fails to read a thread properly before blundering in to denounce and pronounce on people, is there Diamond?

OK, I'll hold my hands up and admit I've been a horrible trolling fucker this afternoon, but football fans are so easy to wind up it's ridiculous.
Anyway, serious question – if Woodgate, Campbell, Ferdinand and Terry were all fit and playing regularly for their clubs, which two would you choose as England's central defensive pairing?
I like central defenders who really command their space and frighten attackers with a bit of the rough stuff. As a result I'd probably play Campbell and Terry. Sometimes Ferdinand is sublime, other times he looks like he's a bit complacent and would rather be somewhere else. I haven't seen Woodgate play in an age but from what I can remember he works hard, doesn't panic under pressure and is one of the few defenders in the country who can actually pass out of defence a bit. I still wouldn't choose him over Terry and Campbell, because they're better in the air, tougher in the tackle and have a real presence in the area that Woodgate simply can't match. You've said I know nothing about football, Rocket, feel free to shoot me down in flames...

I would have Sol and Terry (Woodgate in a friendly to replace either one)
I've given up on Rio, he looks increasingly amateurish for club and country and everytime I've seen United this season Ferdinand has been the most suspect of the defence
