Wood Green

I lived there for a year, I quite liked it. The marketplace at the back of shopping city has to be seen to be believed, and there used to be (maybe still is) a department store with carpet, also in shopping city. Is the restaurant Mosaica and the Sikh (?) incredibly cheap restaurant on the trading estate still there? All high points.

The only really rough thing I saw was a kid who must have been about six years old trying to shoplift a giant 24 bottle box of stella from Sainsburys, watched by his mum. I didn't intervene - the staff did stop him, from what I remember.

I had a very enjoyable few years living round there in the early/mid nineties when I was a student. Ally Pally, Guiness in the weatherspoons in Turnpike Lane, trips to Crouch End and Muswell Hill - happy days!
Aint been back since though. I actually heard it had improved since they redeveloped Shopping City!

What I remember about Wood Green was that it always seemed to be so packed with people. There was a great greasy spoon right by Turnpike Lane station

I used to live in Wood Green right near the tube station years ago and whilst it isn't the nicest place in London there are way worse places. If you wanna gripe about 3 wheeler buggies, try East Dulwich or Stokey!

There used to be a right good kebab shop near the station for a start and it's got a decent range of shops to get more basic bits and bobs like a Dotty P's, River Island, Wilko's and the aforementioned TK Maxx if you don't want/can't be arsed to go into town, eh?

Whenever the tube home is still full at Finsbury Park I stand in front of anyone with a seat who has mad eyes or extreme dishevelment or bulky but worthless objects, because I can be absolutely sure that they will be getting off at Wood Green.

I know we've had threads about this cursed place before, but any time I am there it still get shocked at what an absolute scummy place it is. Was down there today buying a hockey stick and by the end of my trip I felt like beating myself to death with it just to get some relief from Wood Green  Every fucker on the street seemed to have a double buggy, they were all meandering slowly across the pavement 4 abreast, and there was no sense of order or happiness. Everyone looked angry and hostile.

Wood Green. Wood fucking Green. Christ save us all.

I'm sure you could've found a hockey stick in Chelsea. Lots of nice buildings there.

I had the misfortune of working there for a year. It is indeed a grim shit hole of a place with no redeeming features.
