they are wicked
DJ Bus Replacement Service!!!
Saw nina kravitz on twitter moaning about being described as a female dj
Her point was she is a dj.
BTW her and The Black Madonna were also talking about how Diplo gets off with misogynistic crap on twitter but that Lithuanian guy gets rightly pillared for what he said.
Iirc Diplo said some pretty wrong shit to a blogger.
I love it when she puts up a new mix. They are always full of delicious surprises.
Diplo is shite too.
The Black Madonna did a great Fact mix a couple of weeks ago.
Her mix was good for the frankie knuckles boiler room thing as well.
Ben UFO put a load of female DJs on as guests on the Hessle Audio Rinse FM show recently, but wisely didn't mention their gender, just that they were great.
I am listening to B Traits' radio 1 show on iplayer! Quite enjoying the tunes...
Barely legal, Suki Quasimodo and A.fruit all seem on top form at the moment
Nina Kravitz and DJ Rap from back in the day
Lots of female DJs on the line up for Distant PLanet v Rupture this saturday...nice to see...will report back!
Props for her Facebook moniker: Patrick Scowley
Distant Planet are doing little feautres about their DJs for this, includes
No Yeah No
theyve also got Storm, Miss Pink and of course Louise +1 on the bill
20 women who shaped the history of dance music
Black Madonna who I checked on this thread earlier just posted this on twitter. Seems apt for this thread.
Kraviz is shit. not significant to the history of dance music at all.
Someone like Cio D'or or Holly Herndon has done far more for techno.
While I don't think that she is completely crap, ie. I bought the DJ Kicks compilation a few months ago & it has some great tracks on it. My problem is the way the mix is put together- very uninspirational. But, then I think that the compilers of many of these compilations just get a big name dj to put his/her name behind it & said djs hands are tied because they have to fit so many tracks into x amount of minutes & it's therefore (or should be) completely different to playing live.
I love Kim Ann Foxman.
Yeah, i was exaggerating. she just manages to play uninspiring records most of the time and when she does a good tune it's buried amongst tool techno/house bangers and it's like, we had this shit with drumcode back in the day, playing solely 4-on-the-floor techno bangers in a set is a bit narrow, no?
That being said continentals can be really bloody picky when it comes to breakbeat/bass/electro flavours. It's one reason why I'll miss the techno scene when I move away from London.
I've seen Helena Hauff a few times this summer. She's been excellent every time. Definitely my favourite DJ at the moment. She runs a label. New album due too. Her hardware sets as Hypnobeat are great as well.
Just happened upon this....which I think is completely different to the compilation & NK puts together a good mix?
Nina Kraviz: ENTER.Week 9, Terrace (Space Ibiza, August 27th 2015)
Has Sylvie Marks been mentioned, pretty unknown but one of the best DJ's I have ever heard regardless of gender, does a nice line in original music also
+ cooly g (in similar vein to Ikonika)
I really like Josey Rebelle from Rinse, I think she has great taste and is a very eclectic DJ.
Moxie is great too...
Enjoying this session very much tonight - 4 female djs playing a tip top selection of conscious roots in a basement in Bristol - skip forward a little to once it gets a bit warmed up.
yh tbf i kind of eventually fell out with most techno in 2016 when I started going raving again. could have picked my words more diplomatically last year!
Ah the joys of a toxic house...
